Jenson Button believes life at McLaren is already very different now that former team-mate Lewis Hamilton has moved to Mercedes.

Button has a new partner in Sergio Perez, and revealed he was starting to develop a closer working relationship with the Mexican than he previously enjoyed with Hamilton.

‘It is different,’ said Button. ‘I’ve seen Checo [Perez] around the place a lot, which has been good.

‘When Lewis and myself were here together we never used to see each other.

‘It used to be one day in the simulator and out the other.’

I understand that Button is an easy guy to like, for some people -- they either want to be him, or they want to him -- but to be brutally honest, I detest that guy. He reminds me of Mitt Romney. That's why I try to stay out of the Button thread, I don't want to go balistic again, and I might, because he has a big mouth.

The role he played in undermining Lewis (even with the history of F1 politics included), was -- like Richard Pryor used to say -- foul, with a capital FOUL. Because it wasn't based on nationalism, at least not the kind I recognize. It did play on the basest instincts of our human nature, and he had some willing partners.

I like Brawn. I'm glad he's staying. And I'm glad he (and probably Lewis), said hell no it seems, to Paddy Lowe, 'cause Wolff obviously wanted him. The only piece left is to deliver on the promises, because Lewis, we all know, will do the rest.

I don't like Button, despise him actually (not proud of that. But it's how it's panned out). Don't want to be Button ( there's others I'd choose if I wanted to be an F1 driver and ethically no way I'd want to be him). Don't want to him( there's waaaaay cuter).........but back to Lewis......I'm not sure I understand the power games going on at Mercedes. All I do know is I have complete faith in Lewis's skill and integrity, same with Brawn. Not sure about Wolff. Don't trust Lauda. Lewis never takes the easy option does he

The way i see it is that Button, at least here in Britain is liked by many precisely because despite his lack of true winner grit he is prepared to con his way into positions normally reserved for the talented and the brave. It is seen as admirable by many that one with no talent is able to scheme and cheat his way. It gives hope to those who identify with him. Button has no shame in talking bigger than he is where Lewis would cringe
Also lets not forget our very British preference for the underdog (underdogs tend to be so for good reasons like being losers), it probably stems back to the days the empire was expanded by scamming foreigners into thinking these Islands were much bigger than they really were.
Yup, talent is God given, but to be able to cheat your way despite a lack of talent? priceless

Uh, why would you think that (unless you are being sarcastic)? What I said was, I lay off Button because I appreciate some of his fans graciousness towards Lewis, and he had become such an easy target, that it must have been very painful for them, so I tried to be gracious in return. Unfortunately, everything has its limits, and like I said, this guy has a big mouth.

In contrast, has Lewis said even one thing of a derogatory nature about Button since he left McLaren?

I fear that if the McLaren is worlds better than the Mercedes, we are going to get a season-long diet of this b.s., putting Lewis down at every turn, no matter how slyly down. It's Button's way of saying, "See, I may not be as fast, but I really am superior."

So if he just shuts up and drives, you will get no comment from me, even if he dominates. But if he keeps talking sh%t, a lot of people are going to talk sh%t in return, and you can add me to that list, because I've reached my limit with this classless a%%hole.
