Look at his career, He drivers for Williams, and then gets ousted for Montoya just as Williams have there best years in a long time. So he moves to Renault and the same happens so he makes way for Alonso and then he wins his 2 championship. He moves to BAR/Honda/Brawn. Brawn had said for most of 2008 that they had shifted their focus onto 2009, that is why Honda had such a bad year (admittedly that Honda was terrible from the start) 2009 was the first real car that was under Brawns charge.
2010 did he sell out for the money or did he know that BrawnGP had been that run down and ragged that it would take a long time to come back... if it ever does.

2010 I think Button knew Mercedes werent going to be the best car. Yes he won the 2009 championship but that was because of his dominance in the first 7 races, by the end of the season both Red Bull and McLaren were faster tha Brawn and Ferrari were catching quickly.

Of the other changes, it was partly bad luck that Williams had Montoya coming into F1 in 2001, and Alonso was always going to get a Renault drive as he was signed by Renault before 2001 - I think he was "loaned" to Minardi in 2001 to see how he could do!

I think people expected a lot more out of montoya than actually happened. For Williams at the time it was a major coop

Guys, to close the Hamilton/Mercedes debate I will say something that we all have observed: Hamilton is driving much, much better when he is relaxed. McLaren had it's issues, that's why he was struggling in the team in the last seasons. He wasn't relaxed, car always had some glitches, team made wrong decisions, etc. But, as soon as he relaxed a bit, he won in USA. Car was fast, so was he. He comes to Mercedes for a new start, that's always refreshing. That's why I think both him and Rosberg will do even better than in last 2-3 seasons. But, the only concern remains the progress through the entire season, something Brawn didn't have in many years. OK, the sacrificed last season, that's understandable, but it also happened with Brawn GP. That's why I still think Mercedes will do it's big attack in 2014. And, if they create a monster engine again, they might really be in the title fight, with 2 young and great drivers. Let's wait and see what happens. :wavey::drink:

Nonsense, Lewis was relaxed all year, the way you are spouting is he was only relaxed come the US race lol. Fact is the team let him down last season, anyone without the glass of anti freeze will admit that. :vomit:

But that is a pointless discussion because it's this coming season that matters and my prediction is the merc will be right up their. :gunfiring:

I've got a prediction for you: LEWIS AND MERCEDES ON THE POLE AT THE FIRST RACE, AND 50/50 for the win.

McLaren, oh, 7th and 8th or thereabouts, and nowhere, or "there," if you prefer, in the race. :hehe:

Don't even bother...

Overconfidence and arrogant. Overconfidece will be Red Bull's downfall. Ferrari only have to close the gap and win because Alonso is by far the best driver in the world. He already proved it in 2010 and 2012. If Vettel were better than Alonso, having by far the best car in both those years meant he should of won the title easily. But he did not because Alonso is best in world. It' is as simple as that. ¡Vamos arriba Alonso!

This thread is such a mess

Indeed.

I think Hülkenberg will really shine this year, providing Sauber can keep up the good development. Would not surprise me if he spends most of the year being linked with bigger teams.
