So when there's lots of Germans it's proof that they're good but when any other country, they're pushing it just trying to get a result.

F**k logic.

Mark Webber is on probation at Red Bull in 2013. Red Bull motorsport boss Helmut Marko was not impressed by the Australian's obstructiveness towards team-mate Sebastian Vettel in the title-deciding Brazilian Grand Prix, saying: "Mark was not optimal co-operative… he knows what we expect of him." If Webber does not keep his seat in 2014, Toro Rosso drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne are in the best position, but if they fail to prove they are suitable, Marko is keen on Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg.

Latest news... Helmut Marko has spoken again! Gather round, earthlings, to hear more words of his INFINITE WISDOM!!!

This time... Fernando is too political.... Seb is flawless... Mmmmm let's hear more:

Sebastian Vettel beat Fernando Alonso to the 2012 Formula 1 title because his Ferrari rival meddled too much in politics and psychological warfare, reckons Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko.

Reflecting on the 2012 world championship battle in the latest edition of Red Bull's in-house magazine the Red Bulletin, Marko argued that Alonso got distracted by off-track aspects while Vettel focused solely on driving.

"Sebastian's driving was virtually flawless," said Marko. "But he is a phenomenon: it is always like that.

"After the summer break, his performance curve shoots up. That's what happened in previous years, too.

"I don't know how he does it, but to keep doing it cannot be a coincidence. That brings us back to his method of preparation, the way he shuts himself off from the rest of the world, so that he can still call on reserves that other drivers might not have.

"Fernando Alonso, for example, who is busy with politics and funny comments.

"Vettel ignores it all; he doesn't read the newspapers, or the internet. And that's the point, you see, we concentrate on our job: to make the fastest car and the best team possible."

Marko claimed that Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari would have been harder on his team in defeat than Alonso and current chiefs.

"I believe that there is no way old Enzo would have liked such defeat, but he would acknowledge the performance of the opposition," he added.

"And then [he] would whip his boys accordingly so they'd do everything to beat us.

"But not with such actions as we have recently experienced. Alonso is constantly involved in politics.

"I believe we saw the stress he was under towards the end of the season. Saying things like, 'I'm competing against [Lewis] Hamilton, not Vettel,' and 'I'm up against [Adrian] Newey,' these psychological skirmishes. We said, 'Just ignore him.'"

Marko says he has little time for critics of Vettel, and is not worried by speculation that his German driver could switch to Ferrari in the future.

"There is a lot of nonsense being said. 'Vettel can't overtake.' Ridiculous; just look at Abu Dhabi and Brazil. 'He is only able to win because he's sitting in a Newey car.' We have two Newey cars, so why aren't we clinching one-two at every race?

"Then the comment of the great Jackie Stewart that Vettel must go to another team to prove himself. This is said by someone who scored all his greatest successes in just one team, Tyrrell. I can't take it seriously."

The part where he talks about Alonso are basically repeats of what he said when the season had just ended. And it's true!

But yeah...he really doesn't like Webber in the team for some reason. Maybe he finds that aussie humour sort of offensive. :hehe:

We are talking about history. Pay attention, young padawan.

Sorry Vlad but you've taken the cake for "Stupidest" (note Stupidest is not a word) comment I've read in 2013 so far with your theories on Germans being the best drivers.

You took many cakes, but who cares...

Marko FTW, hahahaha! :D I really dislike that guy, but I still think that he is the necessary evil, something every team has or should have.

Swap the driver names around and no doubt everyone will love Marko.

He's not saying anything wrong or anything that hasn't been said before by others.

Germany has better drivers and that is a fact. Now, when it's easier for many nations to have drivers in F1 Germans rule. The proof they drive better. I would, however, like to see 1 or 2 more drivers from Brazil.

Germans FTW! And South America. Others are just pushing it, hoping that 1 will pop up with a good result. UK especially...

If you look at the numbers Finns seem to provide best results:
3 Champions out of 8 drivers out of a nation of 5 million people who've won 4 WDC.
Compared to that the German results are not that impressive:
50 drivers out of 100 million, 2 champions with 10 WDC. Berlin alone should have that number of F1 champions.
I bet Rosberg would already be a WDC had he chosen to drive under Finnish flag

Just to set the record straight: Germany was divided for a good chunk of the 20th century and the FRG (BRD, West Germany) had about 60 million people before reunification with the technologically way behind GDR (DDR, East Germany).

ESPNF1:

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says Mark Webber will continue driving for the team "while he delivers".

Webber has been signing one-year contract extensions in the latter part of his career, and at 36 years old he is now the oldest driver on the grid. However, despite his age, Horner says that Webber will not be replaced at Red Bull as long as he keeps securing the results that the team needs to continue its recent period of success.

"The last three years have apparently been Mark's last," Horner told Sporting Life. "Yet he has been retained by the team because of what he has done in the car, and again the same rules apply this year.

"We want the strongest pairing and Mark has contributed significantly to our constructors' world championships over the last three years, and even came close to winning his own title in 2010. Mark has been employed by the team to do the best job he can and he knows what's expected of him. There are an awful lot of drivers who would like to be sat in a Red Bull car but Mark is there on merit, and while he delivers for the team he will have that place."

Horner added his belief that Webber can deliver consistently this season, but said he is always harshly judged as he drives alongside "the best of a generation" in Sebastian Vettel.

"The difficulty for Mark is he is constantly judged against a young man in the other car who has achieved so much. What Seb's done in 101 races, with 26 victories, being a three-time world champion, youngest points scorer, pole winner, race winner, is remarkable.

"Mark's being constantly measured against a driver that is, in my view, the best of a generation and that makes it harder for him. But at the same time Mark measures the opportunity of being measured against the best. He has also demonstrated on his day he can be unbeatable and he does just need to string a campaign together, with 19 of those performances."
