I think the word comeback is used in the sense that McLaren have not won either championship since Hakkinen took his second WDC in 1999. The same as Williams haven't won either since Villeneuve in 1997.

Actually I meant comeback as in after the Scandal of last year and McLaren not wining anything then as a result of it.

As a life-long fan of Formula One and McLaren, I was so proud of the team last season. Despite an internecine war between drivers, Alonso trying to bribe staff with £700 in exchange for supporting him, and an FIA-Ferrari slander campaign, and several subversive members of staff, the team kept their heads down, continued to win races and develop the MP4-22 at a staggering pace and design the MP4-23 which so far looks to be a great peace of kit. McLaren have the car, drivers, management, engineers, mechanics to give Ferrari-FIA the two fingers next season - but I've no doubt Ferrari, Mosley and Ecclestone will be aware of this and will take suitable action...

I was so proud of the team last season?
Proud of the spying scandal, cheating, mismanagement of the scandal AND the drivers' issues with each other, and then f*cking up the last races with bad advice for the contender to eventually lose the sure-thing title?:roll:

Three subversive people aided and abetted Ferrari-FIA and duck things up for McLaren last season. The other 99% of the team did a bloody good job considering all that went on. So, yes, I am proud of McLaren's 2007 season.

you know MclarenFan he will never criticize his beloved team no matter how in the wrong they are. Mclaren screwed up last year and that is nothing to be proud of. 2008 will be Ron's comeback but beating Kimi is going to be harder than ever

Yeah, with Ferrari-FIA and Ecclestone watching his back.

Simple formula: MacLaren Fan + Koolaid = McLaren Lamb.

Further, you're missing the point. McLaren-Mercedes have hundreds of employees and sponsors around the globe. Whilst the actions of Alonso, de la Rosa and Coughlan were utterly reprehensible, they were three people out of hundreds. The remainder of McLaren did a magnificent job given everything that was going on and it's shame that their efforts were not rewarded because of a cocktail of politics and three snakes. Say what you like, but you know it's true.

The point is those same innocent engineers & Ron Dennis who had nothing to do with the spy scandal screwed up. Two races to go and the title was in the bag, the pressure got to them and they end 2007 with nothing. That doesn't sound like a magnificent job to me

I don't see your point. The only people who may have screwed up were those who decided it was worth the risk to leave Hamilton out on worn-out tyres. It may have paid off if Hamilton took it easy going into the pits. Alonso's accident was one of those things. What happened in Brazil? Hamilton lost his cool and in the race may have hit one of the magic buttons on the steering wheel or it may have been an unfortunate electronic gremlin. That does not sound like the disaster you or DD make it out to be. I say again, under the circumstances, McLaren did supremely well.

Pressure from immense levels of scrutiny and bombardment from the media at the same time pressure from the fans to deliver the championship. I'm pretty sure that most teams would mess up under that, probably even Ferrari.

Anyway, for those who are so keen to play the 'McLaren are a disgrace' card every time the spying scandal is mentioned, read through the WMSC transcripts and all the other evidence, go past all the tabloid-style journalism, and then you'll have a better idea. Like McLaren Fan has already said, you're branding hundreds of people cheaters when, in actual fact, it was only a few. That's unfair and to be honest you should be ashamed of yourselves for doing it. I'm pretty sure that if Ferrari were caught in a similar situation and people branded them all as cheaters, you'd be quick on their defence stating the exact same points...

When will this s*** end

I doubt it will. If McLaren win in 2008, a lot of people will be screaming things like: "They cheated! They only got there because they have Ferrari information!" and it will all start up again. And if Ferrari win, people will most likely say something along the lines of: "Just look where cheating gets you..."

So really, not for a while.

Simple formula: MacLaren Fan + Koolaid = McLaren Lamb.

thats abit harsh from a moderator

and again you CANT use lamb in a McLaren context as its used in a Ferrari context to describe someone who follows the herd and there is a s*** load of Ferrari lambs. Go to a GP all you see is dicks in Ferrari gear and i do mean dicks

The only thing they undermined was the McLaren illusion of Honesty & Integrity.
Please give it a break will you.

Like I said you have got your excuses ready even before the racing has started.
If McLaren win it's because they are such a great team and fought against all adversity and still won. You make it sound so heroic
If they loose well we all know what it means - You will get your bold 2008 ready for your footer.

When will this s*** end

firstly you ask when this s*** will end after you have had your say? how does that work?? do you wish McLaren fan to change his opinion and then youd be happy? will the s*** have ended in your book?

and its hilarious you Ferrari <EDITED FOR CONTENT> taking digs at McLaren when you act as though your team is so sporting and honest
Go look in the mirror before you accuse teams of cheating!
stupid f***s
