When was Sutil confirmed?

He's not been offically confirmed but the smart money is on him driving an FI next season.

Let's say Force India do confirm Sutil. How are they going to deal with any issues with him getting a visa for certain countries? Surely you wouldn't want to take on a driver who you know in advance may not be able to take part in some races?

Doesn't Bernie have arrest warrants in certain countries?

When was Sutil confirmed?

...and what team does your money say he'll be driving for?

Yeah, but he's not supposed to drive a race car...

Grosjean confirmed at Lotus for 2013

With the terrible news that this nutter will be terrorising the starting grid next season and the sad news that Koby will not be in F1 in 2013, here's the updated drivers and teams line-up.

Red Bull Renault

1. Sebastian Vettel
2. Mark Webber

Scuderia Ferrari

3. Fernado Alonso
4. Felipe Massa

McLaren Mercedes

5. Jenson Button
6. Sergio Perez

Lotus Renault

7. Kimi Raikkonen
8. Romain Grosjean

Mercedes

9. Nico Rosberg
10. Lewis Hamilton

Sauber Ferrari

11. Nico Hulkenberg
12. Esteban Gutierrez

Force India Mercedes

14. Paul di Resta
15. Adrian Sutil

FI drivers still to be confirmed but look increasingly likely to be Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil. Jules Bianchi may have a shot at a race seat however his lack of experience seems like it will count against him.

Williams Renault

16. Pastor Maldonado
17. Valterri Bottas

Scuderia Toro Rosso Ferrari

18. Daniel Ricciardo
19. Jean Eric Vergne

Caterham Renault

20. Charles Pic
21. TBA

Marussia Cosworth

22. Timo Glock
23. Max Chilton

So that leaves just Force India to confirm their driver line-up and Caterham to confirm who will patnering Charlie Pic.

The thing with Grosjean is... he DOES have the speed. Hopefully next year, he'll tame things a little, especially at the start. Then he may get the results his speed deserves.

As for Kobayashi, I'm not surprised. The moment of excitement passed for me when he left Toyota.

Chilton confirmed as being in:

Marussia have announced that Max Chilton will race for them in 2013. The 21-year-old British rookie takes the second seat at the team alongside Timo Glock.

Chilton, who acted as Marussia’s reserve driver for the final six races of 2012, made his Formula One race weekend debut with the team at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, driving in FP1. That followed a successful campaign in GP2 in which he finished fourth in the series with two wins.

“It’s hard to put into words how I’m feeling today, with the announcement that I will be racing for the Marussia F1 Team in 2013,” Chilton said. “It comes at the end of what has been a fantastic year for me, and those steps - my GP2 pole positions and wins, my performances in the F1 young driver test and in FP1 at Abu Dhabi - have given everyone the confidence in my ability to compete at the highest level of motor sport.

“I am very fortunate to have spent the last six races with the Marussia F1 Team as reserve driver, which means that instead of a standing start, I am already up to speed and at ease with the people, the culture, the systems and of course, the 2012 package. During the period since the Japanese Grand Prix, I have watched at very close quarters the incredible commitment and determination to succeed that saw everyone in the team pushing until the very last race. I feel very lucky to be able to embark on my F1 racing career with this group of people.”

Marussia team principal John Booth said that the team had been convinced of Chilton’s potential during his stint as reserve driver.

“We have spent a significant amount of time evaluating his performances during 2012, both in our own car in a testing situation and also from the pit wall as we monitored his progress alongside the other members of our junior talent pool during Grand Prix support races.

“We felt confident enough in his ability and potential to appoint him to the role of reserve driver in September and since that time his development has been rapid in all aspects. First and foremost, he has shown himself to be extremely capable in the car. Most recently, in Abu Dhabi, he was put to the test in a competitive environment which included providing him with an opportunity to demonstrate his outright pace and consistency over a single lap.”

Chilton’s appointment means that Marussia, who finished 11th in the constructors’ championship in 2012, will enter the new season with a changed driver line-up for the fourth consecutive season.

Good news. A few of us have been following his brother Tom in the BTCC, so I'm definitely excited to see Max in F1.

I hope Marussia doesn't end his career before it's even started. However, Charles Pic has demonstrated that this doesn't always have to be the case, having done what Lucas Di Grassi and Jerome D'Ambrosio failed to do.

But if he has paid his dues to society, then what is wrong with him driving. If he has been rehabilitated

F1 drivers should be an example and employing a convicted felon is a crazy idea. Sutil should never drive for F1 again.

Bit of an extreme point of view.

But if he has paid his dues to society, then what is wrong with him driving. If he has been rehabilitated

He only waves miniatures about these days and always at a distance of at least 10 metres from the nearest Renault employee. :hehe:
