No it's not the first prank call,no one's claiming it is, and I'm sure those two Dj's never meant for such a disaster to come of it, and I'm not convinced the outcome is down to them. But that said, on the BBC tonight, they did say that it's illegal in Australia to record telephone conversations without all persons being aware. I Don't know If that's correct,but would think the BBC have researched before broadcasting those facts.
I think Austereo parent company of 2dayfm would be aware of the legalities regarding prank calls, they have been doing them for a long time now.
As I said if the call's within Australia then yes all parties are required to consent but not for calls made to overseas persons.
