France is more deserving as they have a long history of being involved in F1 with GP's, teams, drivers and sponsors.

Are you serious?

The only thing that currently labels a GP destination as deserving is their willingness to pay up.

In the end. it's a business...not a charity event. So can't blame anyone here...not even the old mad genius who runs the show.

FIA trophies at the gala in Istanbul - good omen for the Turkish GP?

And why is DC on the podium?

Unfortunately not good news."Our" primary minister didn't even come to the gala, how he's interested in the whole thing!! :banghead: Also,DC was one of the presenters of the gala,so that's why he was there.

I can blame the Turkish government who kept ignoring our(fans) willingness for Turkish GP

I thought it all went wrong because of the "Cypriot/Turkish" Prime minister giving out a trophy. So Bernie paid the massive fine that he imposed and then held the Turkish goverment to ransom over it?

He's still a key person in Redbull, some sort of advisor? More important question being, why is he wearing a skirt? :P

I don't remember much about it tbh,i think organizers paid for it?But the problem for the Turkish government is different, they only care about what'd bring money.Appearently,F1 didn't do so for them.So they aren't willing.Whereas people icluding the new owner of the track are trying to tell this but who cares

Redbull RIng could be a potential venue!!!!!!

Red Bull has been made the FIA aware that the Red Bull Ring in Austria (formally the A1-Ring) has the potential to play host to a grand prix next year.

Next year's calendar has a space currently being held open for a "European" F1 race on July 21 after plans for a race in New Jersey were delayed. France was initially the favourite but a lack of funding has derailed talks, while Turkey's Istanbul Park is also under consideration.

However, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko told Speed Week that the renovated Red Bull Ring, which last hosted a race in 2003 under the A1-Ring name, has been put forward as a potential venue.

"We have made the FIA aware that there is we have a track with a full F1 license," Marko said.

He also told Speed Week that new hotels in the area would be sufficient to accommodate F1's travelling circus, while changes to facilities such as the media centre would be "no problem". He hinted that additional funding could come from the national government and the provincial government in Styria.

Renovations at the circuit were completed last year after Red Bull mogul Dietrich Mateschitz decided to rebuild the facility, which was demolished following the last F1 race on the A1-Ring in 2003. Since then the circuit has played host to the DTM championship and Formula 2, with Mateschitz never ruling out the return of F1.

The circuit is at the same location as the original Osterreichring that held F1 races in the 1970s and 1980s.

Another big frustration for me,another reason for me to dislike this government we unfortunately have.Doenst matter how good the Austrian track is,I would rather Istanbul Park any time of the year,it's so special to me and nothing,no venue can replace it.Maybe I'm sounding funny to some of you right now but I don't really care what anyone thinks about this.My feelings about Turkish GP will never fade,I'm sad as I was when I got the news last year. It's what made me start watching F1,which is a big part of my life. When I went to the race last year,I was sure I'd like that again but also desperate that we'd lose our place on the calendar,I almost cried when I left the track on Sunday. Now,it's also sad to see how people like me are dabbling for the return of the GP and how the government keeps ignoring us.If you've read all of this, thanks for that because the whole message is about something really important to me.This goes way too sentimental but nothing I can do about it!Now you can understand why I'm so sensible about the Turkish GP.

Elfinitty, is it more a case of patriotism where you feel as a Turkish you'd like to have your own GP? Or it's the easiest F1 race you can get yourself to to watch a race live? If it's the latter...you're close to Europe and can get to nearly any track in the calendar!

If it's the former, and the government does not take much importance to it, it's probably a reason of a Formula 1 race there not being so feasible to the country's economy and is a drain on resources. The economy cares more about getting the stands filled up for int. marketing and funds to help run the country, not the wheel to wheel racing. Motives of racing fans and politicians mix like oil and water, its a hard truth.

Myself for example, I had a great time the 1st time I went to the Msian GP, then the 2nd time I was a bit 'ok great stuff, but...' and 3rd time I was just like 'ok this is my last trip' since I wanted to be IN the paddock instead of just watching it...and being at the circuit as just a 'fan' became depressing. So I never visited the Sepang circuit after that and plan never to. If you've already been to the Turkish GP, it's something great already...try other circuits where there is a lot more passion in Europe!

All Governments have more important issues to deal with than hosting an F1 race. Given the situation in the south with Syria I'd have thought an F1 race was pretty low on the Governments list of priorities. There are a lot more important reasons to dislike a Government - the lack of an F1 race really isn't one.

@Hammer:I see you're right at those points. My situation is the first one.If I went to Europe for watching the race,it'd be awesome,I'd love to do that but I wouldn't feel the same way I did here.

Maybe I'm reacting like that because of my negative feelings towards our government already. But they're trying for 2020 Olmypics, they don't see how a good reference Turkish GP would be.The only thing they understand about sports:Money and football. They spend dozens of money on football, but what do we get?Nothing. With far less amount spent on motor sports at least we have nomible success at some international races, maybe not F1 but some other motor sports. They don't see much fund coming from the races but the new owner had some plans and if they even went and discussed this, their aspect might've altered a bit.But the answer was just:''No,we will not pay,the track is denationalized.''

I agree with you about wanting to be IN the paddock, because I felt the same thing even in the first year. But this is one of the greatest things here for me,and I was so proud of hosting the event,so I literally got disappointed as we lost the place.

All Governments have more important issues to deal with than hosting an F1 race. Given the situation in the south with Syria I'd have thought an F1 race was pretty low on the Governments list of priorities. There are a lot more important reasons to dislike a Government - the lack of an F1 race really isn't one.

Actually, life is the same before the Syria problem,in Istanbul.Of course there are more important issues, but if you lived in Turkey and saw what kind of things our primary minister cares about, you'd probably laugh,I can't believe how he can even talk like that, not giving examples now, since that's an F1 thread. My dislike of them doesn't come from F1,it just made me more mad.
