I agree, people in the extremes tend to be extremists. Lew, you point out what I believe is the foundation of a lot of religion, which is an accepted local or regionalized societal practice even though many that do practice it don't really believe in the ideals. It's a place to go see friends, family, get together for activities and in smaller or rural communities may be the only source for regular social interaction. And there is nothing wrong with that.

I've met many an arrogantly militant atheist that in conversation felt like talking to a religious fundamentalist but in my opinion what would work globally is simply a live and let live philosophy where government and religion are kept completely separate.

Here's a hypotheses... maybe the reason there are many atheists in F1 is because GPs events occur on Friday, Saturday and Sunday pretty much interrupting the holy days of just about every religious denomination. :hehe:

My hypotheses was that, F1 is all about Technology, and Science and Religion does not work well.

I also believe that religion was invented to control the population. If you think about it in the dark ages when there was no law and order, if you could convince someone that if you killed someone else they would spent the rest of forever in hell. Oh and we do not need to know you did it because we have an all seeing being that will know!

looks at the 10 commandmants they are basic laws that we have today.

I believe in the Sub-audible. I don't really practice any religious beliefs but to my understanding, the power of God/a higher Deity is actually based inside of an individual...and how that individual steers the power. It can be used to do good/bad/great/terrible things, and is the most powerful force which exists. I think it correlates well with Science since 'vibes' and 'miracles' could theoretically happen if one wields this force in the right way knowingly/unknowingly. For example, if you think of a loved one hard enough who is living on the other part of the world, and 2 minutes later, that person gives you a call and says he/she was thinking about you and decided to give you a ring...it doesn't have to mean coincidence or that God wanted to 'gift you the call', it was simply your innate force which got that person's attention at that moment.

I don't know if I'm making sense to you guys, but I don't know how else to explain it. The 1 thing I try to do in life is...do anything I want in life as long as it doesn't cause unnecessary hurt to another human being/animal. To take an extreme example, if I decide to go into heroin, my parents and loved ones should never know but it's impossible since sooner or later they'd notice a change in me so why bother risking it by trying it? Which is why I never will.

God is like santa, behave the way I tell you he wants you to or you won't get any presents. It's all just a form of control.

Well, one difference is that even though neither exist you do get presents from santa.

You can probably guess what I voted.

I have too many questions in my head, despite that I choose to believe there's a God and his prophets.Sometimes my questions become even more deeper. So,why do I choose to believe in God?Because that makes me feel more relaxed and my feelings and the conclusions I reach tell God exists.I'm raised with seeing Islamic belief. So I went on that way.My parents were never strict, they just did what they believe ( as Christians go to Church, christen their kids and like that). It looks I am doing like them less.
I hate to know the negotiation in most people's head,Muslims being strict about religion, women not treated well and so on.Actually some of these are bitter facts in some places of the Islamic world but for me it has never been.

So yeah,I am believing in God and in religions but its as I explained

Some said (and some still do) from santa.

Aside from the fact I don't have any religious beliefs I have nothing against the social and moral aspects of religion as long as they're not mis-used.

We had three wise men that would brings gifts and I wondered why I found batteries hidden in the house weeks before when there was nothing we had the required batteries.

Truly I am an athiest and no other religion makes me more so than Islam, it is a disgrace to women and modern humanity in general!

That's what I was talking about.Isn't it so sad that how sick minded people behave and make people think everyone believing in same religion with them has a bit of it.People even think it's about the religion. No,it's about sick minded ones.

The last forum I belonged to that decided to go down this road of discussion, ended up with around 10 barred members, a massive split, a new rival forum, and no conclusion.

Although people on here are slightly less argumentative. So I'm sure we will be fine.

That's why you moved over here? I like to think of our membership as more open minded instead of less argumentative.
