Does pay pal charge a fee for transferring small sums like that? It's not a sale so that would be important as you don't want o stick someone with the fees.

That's a good point; I forgot that Paypal charge a fee for transferring money... I can't think of an easier solution given the international nature of the forum and pool players.

Plus one thing you have to think about....

£1 does not = $1 US does not = €1 does not = $1 AUS etc, etc...... so someone would need to convert everything into equal units?

I personally think the taking part for the bragging rights is fun enough - even though I did come late in the game.

Then how come Apple charges the same in iTunes? :hehe:

I thought one unit of any given currency makes more sense as everyone can afford, one dollar, pound or euro, ignoring the exchange rate; as at the start of the season, the exchange rate will be different from the end of the season. Although it would be easy to add a PP button on the website and it'll convert the fee into $1 USD for example.

Oh dont get me wrong, it sure would be easier, just a little unfair, as some people would be putting more into the pot. BUT its such a small amount I don't mind. I'd be willing to go up to £10 for a season sweepstake.

Surely bragging rights and a snappy title is enough? Put money in and it'll get over competitive.

You weren't even playing half the time!

I agree though, that it would lose some of it's innocence if we brought money into the fold. Although there's nothing stopping up from having a "closed" competition at the beginning of the season that folks would have to buy into, it would be tracked separately and it could even stay private if we wanted it to.

Let's just keep it at a private wager, should members want to; I never wanted to make it pay-to-play, it was just an idea to spice things up a little, I don't think it will make it any more competitive as the amount of winnings will be so small that it wouldn't be worth it; and we're a pretty competitive bunch anyway, otherwise we wouldn't play at all!
