I watched the race again last night. It would be a shorter list to write down what didn't happen in this race than it would be to list the things that did happen. Need to take an energy drink before viewing.

Well. What a race!
:skidmarks:
The standings were changing every 5 mins - "Vettel is winning it, no Alonso is winning it, no Alon...Nope its Vettel Again...". You can always rely upon the rain to living things up....Image

Vettel made an excellent come-back from a disastrous first lap at turn 4. He kept his head, and brought the car home. It is also a testament to how well that RedBull is made - that it even managed to carry on!
As much as I didnt want him to win it, you cant take away from the fact that, this year, he was a fully deserving winner and did an great job to take the title. 3xWDC - He is up amongst the greats now.

You've got to feel for Alonso - he did as best that he could do yesterday really - yet still that WDC at Ferrari eludes him.

Hamilton. Things were just not meant to be for his last race at McLaren. But I suppose it was a reflection of his year - That no matter how well he is doing, fate will jump up, slap you in the face with a big wet fish, and remind you who is boss.... :fishslap:

2012 - an amazing, on the edge of your seat, nail biting ride - roll on 2013.

6) Webber - Really great to see him doing the team thing in the race.

OK, everything you wrote is really good, but this statement is rather... wrong. I saw Webber spinning, making mistakes, almost pushing his teammate to the wall on the start, losing position to Alonso very easily, and so on... How was that teamwork? It was the opposite. You want the teamwork? There's Massa! The man who sacrificed everything to help Alonso. And he was right, there aren't many drivers like him.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I've just seen it on another forum and thought I'd bring it up.

The three drivers on the podium for Michael Schumacher's final F1 race are the same three drivers who were on the podium for his previous final F1 race in 2006, albeit in a different order.

And yet Webber still did pull to the side and let Vettel through during the race.

I know to you Vettel can do no wrong and is the greatest driver ever ever ever ever etc but the simple fact is Webber didn't cause Vettel to crash into Senna on the 1st lap, and he didn't force Vettel to pit for the wrong tires midway through the race, so considering Vettel for most of the race was on a different part of the track what exactly did you expect Webber to do exactly?

He spun and made mistakes? so did half the drivers on the track, he lost position to alonso? yeah mainly because of Massa, he did as much as he could if you feel like you could do better you should go show us and not criticize other drivers for driving their own race.

4) Everyone gets luck - sometimes good and sometimes bad. Vettel fans can rightly point to his alternator problems. What happened Seb;s first time through T4 in yesterday's race was a year's worth of good luck I guess.

If you're going to use my material at least send me a royalty check.

Like I said yesterday, sometimes to win a WDC the planets align just right with the moon in the correct phase and voila, you escape a multi car collision you caused with no meaningful damage to your vehicle while causing others to retire from the race. If that had been Grosjean, he wouldn't be returning to the sport next year. :hehe:

Me thinks Vettel used up all of next year's allotment of luck with that bullet dodged. At least he got a WDC out of it! It was an entertaining race indeed... I was physically exhausted by lap 25!

What a fabulous end to the season! Of course I would have liked a slightly different end :) but all the same it was a great season. My thoughts on the race and results:-

1) got to start with a congratulations to Seb on winning his 3rd WDC. A worthy winner. I liked his post race interview. If, as I have speculated he did end up at Ferrari I would be very happy with that.
2) Fernando - words can't describe what a great champion I think this guy is. The way he fought to the finish was great. The way he accepted the result was equally great. What he got out of the car the whole season showed why so many believe he is the best driver around.
3) Ferrari team - the way the team worked together was excellent. Improving to 2nd in both championships this year. They took huge chances at the start of the season and, whilst the design had problems and their wind tunnel caused more grief, the team worked brilliantly to get the best they could each race. No failures for a whole season is testament to their work.
4) Everyone gets luck - sometimes good and sometimes bad. Vettel fans can rightly point to his alternator problems. What happened Seb;s first time through T4 in yesterday's race was a year's worth of good luck I guess. The one thing I will say about the alternator thing is, in the end it is part of what the team creates and tests, so, there was some influence the team had on that. The Spa incident for Nando was just something that he and the team had absolutely no control over. Nando had points taken from him there that were truly out of his control - bad luck if you will.
5) Felipe's revival is complete - Seeing Felipe standing on the podium was excellent and he will be a much greater force to rekon with next year
6) Webber - Really great to see him doing the team thing in the race.
7) Team Orders - are they really the bogeyman people fear? IMO absolutely not. I've always said this is a team sport, and doing the team thing makes the sport better. Watching all the team things being done during this race really added a lot to the spectacle for me and I wish there was more of it.
8 ) Schumi - congrats to him, his comeback was a bit ho hum but the car was never there. He still is a great driver and his records are all still there.
9) Lewis - absolutely deserved the win IMO and I was really sad he couldn't go out on the right note. For the Lewis fans I feel for you all. It is so tough watching your guy get taken out beyond his control. He deserved to be fighting for the title in Brazil. He, Seb and Nando are the class of the field.
10) The Hulk - ever so nearly delivered on the promise. I'm sure with the right car he will be able to go that little step further and stand atop the podium.

I'm sure there's heaps more I've missed out on, but all in all a great race and super season.

This is all history now, and all I can say is ..... roll on 2013!!!

I agree with everything here!

And for that alone I was so happy for Massa to make the podium. Silverstone excepting the 1st half of the season he was awful, but since the summer break he has been excellent, and is one of I believe 2 to finish all the last 9 races in the points (the other being Kimi I think).

5th, 4th, 8th, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 4th and 3rd - 97 points in 9 races, not many will have scored more than that the 2nd half of the season, and at times we saw some of the old Felipe Massa - the one that pushed Schumacher hard in 06 and won the championship for 20 seconds in 2008!

Here's a honest question: Does it really hurts you that much that Vettel won the championship? Is it hard for you? Old rage waking up?
