Yes unfortunate for those on that side of the grid, but Lewis won from it.

So Jenson isn't the strategy whizz kid after all.

Until he opened his mouth on the podium.
And He'd have been second without Hulks intervention.

A perfect race would have been a one two and ten million quid for Mclaren. Seems he couldn't give a rats arse about that.

What did he say that he shouldn't have? He said it had been the perfect race which it was for him.

This from the guy that was saying yesterday on the forum that no one should hope for a competitor to DNF!?!? :hehe:

So who am I wishing misfortune on?

It was obvious that Button was speaking from his own view point. He's hardly going to stand on the podium and lament the negatives is he?

But it's certainly not going to stop you from coming here congratulating him on the perfect race. Doesn't matter, as long as it makes sense to you, it must be right. Carry on, I'm going over the the Brazil thread where the action is.

Congratulations Button maximizing on your opportunities, you'll have a heavy burden to carry next year, but a lot of people, and McLaren believe that you can do it.

Button excited to lead McLaren

Jenson Button says he is "really looking forward to 2013" when he can direct McLaren's development programme as the team's lead driver.

With Lewis Hamilton leaving for Mercedes and Sergio Perez coming in as his replacement, Button will assume the mantle of team leader over a new team-mate ten years his junior. Having been team leader at BAR at a much younger age, Button said that it's a role he enjoys and that he's focusing on a crucial few months before the start of the new season.

"I really enjoy … being the lead driver and being the guy who can really help the team improve the car and sort of mould the car around me," Button told ITN. "So I'm really looking forward to 2013 because of that; I've got a couple of months to really mould the team and the car around me at the factory. The good thing about McLaren is that they really listen to what a driver has to say - we're an important part of the puzzle - it's not just driving the car it's developing the car and that really means a lot to me."

Button also said that he feels it will take a while for Perez to settle in to the team before he'll have an input in car development.

"I'm pretty excited about the direction of development. Sergio; obviously coming in to the team it's really for him learning about the team and about the car and then during the season when he gets a handle on it he can help with the direction. But at the moment it's impossible because he hasn't driven a McLaren before so he doesn't really know how it's going to be."

_____________________________________________________

How exactly does he expect to lead the team when he had to copy another drivers setup after being lost in the woods for 6 races? Unless he plans to make it rain for at least 15 races in 2013? :hehe:

Looking at his track record in 'development' it is impressive to say the least....all the cars he drove before Brawn were pretty much dogs, and at Brawn he managed to start off with a great car and they finished the season as the 4th best team overall.

Watch this space - McLaren and himself will be starting 2013 as the 3rd best team...and we'll see where they end up. :)

To be fair, Brawn GP pretty much ran out of money in 2009 and eneded up having to lay off staff whilst other teams with deeper pockets kept on spending.

I wish Jenson and Mclaren all the luck in the world and I'll be cheering most of the time next year when they overtake a Red Bull or a Ferrari.

2013 is shaping up to be a fantastic season, lots of changes and all of them good.
