Interesting tidbit here from Jenson.

He added: "We tried new things when I struggled to get tyre temperature more than most and it actually didn't work, it destroyed the tyres around Monaco and Canada time. Lewis had a good race in Canada and I had such a bad race, and in a way that was good for the rest of the year because we had the two extremes and we could look at the data, get in to the simulator and change the balance around so we could work out why I had so much degradation and he didn't. It was really useful to learn what you can do and what you can't do with these tyres, because it's different to what you normally think."

Tyres are changing again next year. McLaren must be hoping he gets a handle on them a bit quicker than this year, because they won't have Lewis going fast regardless in the other car and providing data Jenson can use, they'll have Sergio who is similar with tyres to Jenson.

Hmm, i'm a bit late to the party but yeah Jenson did okay but let's not forget the tires he started on.

and he only really moved ahead of the slower teams from his wrong position on the grid, Massa had a similar situation and much better race, if Jenson had beaten Massa or driven faster then maybe we could say it was very good
As it is all he has done is drive well and to the cars potential - we know he can do this a few times a season

You're completely ignoring the fact that they ran different strategies, which has a bearing on the overall outcome. If Jenson had started on the option tyres like Felipe, he would likely have gone forwards at the start, not backwards.

And it also tells us that Massa is equally fast as Alonso now. And it seems like a miracle, but it isn't. Massa was always fast, but the car wasn't always "the same".

You're completely ignoring the fact that they ran different strategies, which has a bearing on the overall outcome. If Jenson had started on the option tyres like Felipe, he would likely have gone forwards at the start, not backwards.

If Jenson had started on options like Felipe there is no proof he would have done better, he would have had to come in earlier for tyres and might have had traffic etc. Anyway Jenson chose the strategy and Massa beat him in an inferior car despite starting only one place ahead on the grid.
Still cant see how Jenson did anything special. Seb from the pit lane - that was special, Lewis lapping his team mate in normal race conditions - that was special

Lewis beat 2 Red Bulls on track, Jenson started out of position and completed the race in position - at the back of the 3 top teams 5th, would have been 6th had Webber finished

Yep, I think he'd have been better off starting on the options. Of course, he'd have also been better off starting on the clean side, but he didn't really have a choice there.
