Most consumer cars max out at less than half the RPMs. I wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood with even only one car that revs as high as an F1 car :shock:

Smaller/slower teams would get a penalty for changing the engine or gearbox, but does it really matter that much for them whether they start from 17th or 22nd?

:) what if this engine were (just wild guess)... a 1L 2cyl. then the power output would be more or less in line with whatwe have now, but you'd have a much smaller/lighter engine... and would probably save mpgs... i think it all boils down to technology. If technology helps make durable and efficient small engines, then everyone would benefit. REVs don't necesarilly translate to all out speed.....

It wouldn't make much sense for the next race but if their part fails during the race... DNF galore!! PLUS I think the current point system could be changed... as right now it makes no sense to finish 8th as to finish 22nd...... this takes out almost all the excitement and relevance off the 'back pack'.
