Perusing this video, a "TV License" is unheard of here in the states and if these costs are correct; I can see why there's such an uproar.

A colour television licence is £116 a year (around $192 US) and a black and white TV licence costs £38.50 a year (around $64 US).

Here's the kicker with TV Licencing; it exclusively pays for BBC programming; but despite this; UK citizens are required to pay this fee even if you don't watch the BBC channels; because your TV/Tablet/Computer is capable or receiving these channels. And the cost of the fee has gone up since that time, it currently costs £145.50 for a colour TV licence!

AND they take moto 2 off the red button 5 minutes before the end of the most exciting race if the year, only to show what's already on BBC1. AND they've dicked around with F1 letting sky get in :irked:

In their defence they produce some of the best TV in the world.

My view on the TV licence is that it should be scrapped and advertise like all the other commercial TV channels; it's not like the BBC don't already do a fair bit of advertising via product placement!

The BBC do make some good programming, I like things like Doctor Who, Casualty, Holby City, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Would I Lie to You? Russell Howard's Good News etc. But the BBC also do show a hell of a lot of repeats, rather than making new programming.

I don't pay mine, nor do i have a TV. Everything i need to watch is easily streamed off the net :)

My thoughts exactly. Not a single good programme mentioned. :hehe:

In fact, the best thing on TV at the moment is repeats of Last of the Summer Win on Yesterday.
