The more news that comes out the more those with the ability to see potential instead of remaining stuck in the past can see Lewis has made the right choice.

Firstly Daimler have bought out the Abu Dhabi investment arms 40%, and so they now fully own the F1 team - shows serious commitment GOING FORWARD, McLaren for example are still running around looking for sponsors and investors and hand outs. Dont take rocket science to understand the implications of an F1 team fully owned and backed by a profitable car giant

Secondly, Ron Dennis has confirmed in an emotional and desperate interview after the race that McLaren no longer care about titles only individual race wins (listen to the video towards the end) as they are now different and need drivers/staff who also want the same thing - namely help the firm survive by committing everything to sponsor demands - ouch!

Mr Dennis:
We're a racing team that exists to win and that requires, as I said, a whole range of sacrifices and as I said some other teams don't have that requirement.

Dont have that requirement = have their own money (Williams famously said similar 10 years ago)

So for those of us not reliant on looking at the past and can appreciate the massive differences in the Merc team of 2012 and 2013 will continue to be overjoyed that Lewis has jumped a sinking ship AND that his next team have in place for 2013 all the ingredeints that allow a Red Bull to come along and dominate with a few years.
Lewis Brawn, experienced staff from winning campaigns, big big money backing

Cant wait for next year!:D:clap::director::rofl:

2013 tyres to change aero

Paul Hembery has revealed that the 2013 Pirelli tyres will change the aerodynamics for the teams next season.

Pirelli is supplying two sets of prototype tyres for Friday practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix in order to give the teams an opportunity to gather some data around which to develop their 2013 cars. However, while Hembery said the regulations meant the cars themselves are not due to change too much, the new profile tyre will have an effect on the aerodynamics at the rear of the car.

"Well the cars at least this year are not going to change too much between this year and next year," Hembery told ESPN exclusively. "From that point of view we're hopeful of not having any big surprises and that I think for the teams is also a positive. Although we know that the changes we've made will have an influence on things like aerodynamics for the teams; it will deflect more, the rear tyre in particular."

Hembery added that he suspects some teams not chasing championship positions could focus on analysing the tyres fully on Friday.

"I think for the teams point of view it is an opportunity to gain a lot of data, and those who are maybe not competing for points or a position in the championship then will use that to take home as much data as possible."

Mercedes

Nico Rosberg - 13th
"It was a difficult weekend for us and unfortunately we weren't able to score any points today. However we have learned some important lessons for next year and that's what counts at the moment. I hope we can be more successful next year here in Austin as I have enjoyed our visit. The track, the people and the city are absolutely fantastic. So I look forward to coming back here in 2013 and we will work hard next weekend to finish the season on a positive note."

I've been sleuthing and found out some interesting facts. I knew Mercedes were using two different exhausts on Sunday, but I didn't realise the extent to which they were using that race as a test session.
Schumacher had the coanda exhaust which gave more downforce and got him to 5 th on the grid, but he had to start with 23 kg more fuel that the other cars(apparently other cars using this exhaust had the same problem of it being thirsty but earlier in the year, and they've worked on it to bring the fuel requirement down). This hampered Schumacher by at least .6 a lap and until lap 10, with that extra fuel, he couldn't go off the racing line.
Also, there was no need to stop Michael the second time, his tyres were fine. The reason they did it was because they had just stopped Rosberg and wanted to evaluate the two cars both on new medium tyres. They weren't racing, they were testing.

IThey weren't racing, they were testing.

everyone else was also gathering data and racing... the fact they are so far behind at this the end of the season is a joke... Im sure they will use 2013 as a test season for 2014 and so on until Lewis has had enough of not winning and moves on. I hope for his sake he doesnt stay his full contract there, id rather see him in a Ferrari :yikes:

Not to the extent Mercedes were, they weren't sacrificing the race for testing. 2014 the rules change, the engine changes so the cars will change, you know that. So they won't be testing in 2013 for 2014. Next year the cars evolve form this year, and yes Mercedes are playing catch up, looks like they're playing hard though.

thats because everyone else with money figured out these issues races ago... you even said it in your post! Its like you Lewis fans are going out of your way to look at everything Merc is doing as a falls hope. I hope i'm wrong Lewis deserves a winning car, I just don't see him getting one in the next 3 years!

It's nothing to do with money. It's do with Mercedes going the wrong way with the exhaust. As I said, they're playing catch up, they freely admit that.
