Back markers are apart of the race, Lewis himself lost 9 tenths on one lap to Vettel when he was just 5 tenths behind pushing him back to 1.4 seconds. They affected everyone, signaling out one moment for Vettel as race defining is a reach. Hamilton had DRS he would have got him either way.

You are no part of the race, and should not be impeding drivers and teams who a good enough to actually be on the lead lap racing....

Utterly elitist BS mate.

Big Azza, perhaps you're more annoyed at the result than the drivers right to be there on the track. He did nothing wrong.

You're correct, and like I said, I haven't seen the incident....

It was well talked about this weekend that if you are a backmarker and get caught throughout the S curve section that it would be difficult to let cars pass without driving clean off the track! As Bud said, backmarkers are part of the sport and have been for a long time, if Vettel can't deal with that aspect of the sport, maybe he needs to look elsewhere!

That track definitely impressed today, especially the passing that was going on in the 'arena' section of the track just after sector 2. At first I was bummed that webber's car failed him, but afterwards I was kind of satisfied because it meant more points for alonso. I'd have been THRILLED had it been vettel's car and not webber's tho  it definitely would have shaken up the world championship even more!

I would think he is the most experienced person on the grid at lapping people (apart from Schumacher), so if he has a problem with backmarkers then it must be a valid issue....

vettel can boohoo all day imo 8-)

:hehe:

It's rare to see such a closely matched fight for the front and almost perfectly driven by both of them throughout the whole race, it just took the slightest thing to tip the balance and for Lewis to capitalise on that. That was racing at it's best, by both of them.

I should add to my race summary , that, no matter your likes and dislikes, fan of who and which team, for me, the three best cars and the 3 best drivers over the year were on the podium.

Hamilton also had DRS in Spain last year. Hamilton had DRS for many many laps prior to lap 42. To say he would have got him either way with certainty is a stretch at best.

Fantastic race, I enjoyed it. The Hamilton/Vettel overtake was fortunate for Hamilton but he saw the back markers, went to full power in the hope that Vettel would get held up and went for it! Had Vettel got through then I think the result would have been different but thats racing. I must say I am respecting Lewis much more this season, he has driven impeccably.

I am a Kimi and Jenson fan :cloud9: and when they were going wheel to wheel I just loved it but I was shaking and just hoping they would not take each other out. This is what racing is about.

Jenson and Massa had great drives as did Alonso. I have never been a Ferrari fan but I would like to see Alonso win the WDC, Vettel is younger and Alonso has driven a not so great car to the limits.

All in all a good day for racing

This track isn't Spain the cars are different, you can't compare the two. It's a stretch to criticise my opinion when its coming from a guy who recalibrates a season based on what ifs...:hehe:

It looked pretty much like Spain for the 10 DRS chances Hamilton had before lap 42 :hehe:

......
However, Karthikeyan should receive heavy punishment as a warning to other drivers like Glock... that this is an unacceptable trait that needs to be ironed out.

What trait, being on the track?

Getting in the way of drivers on the lead lap. When you are last and 2 laps down, you have no rights. You are no part of the race, and should not be impeding drivers and teams who a good enough to actually be on the lead lap racing....

Did you even watch the race? Did you see where the HRT held up Vettel? Because if you did, you would know on that part of the track, there is NOWHERE to go. It had been predicted this would happen all weekend.

How about we just don't let anyone who qualified below 15th on the grid, race. Because they are all going to be lapped at some point, and are bound to get in the way!
