Hulk to Sauber is essentially a done deal, so it's 99% gonna happen.

Why did you mention the other day that you think this also means that Kobi is done at Sauber?

Kobi got a rare decent result in Suzuka. Completely screwed it this weekend... Perez has stood out more for me this season. That big splash he made with Toyota in '09 is seeming further and further behind.

Koby is very light of personal backing.

Hm, only just saw this, but let me think back. I think the idea would have been that if Hulk arrived, the second seat was already essentially gone to Gutierrez anyway, something that still seems to be a very strong possibility.

OK, I had a go at updating for the Abu Dhabi and US GP. The usual suspects (Vettel and Lewis) were on it from the moment the cars were released onto the circuit on Friday. They are essentially where you would expect them. A bit disappointing that Alonso didn't qualify that well at the USGP. It will be interesting to see what he does from that starting position.

So, here we are:

Red Bull
Vettel - 10****** wwwww
Webber - 8* ww

McLaren
Hamilton - 15****** wwww
Button - 3* ww

Ferrari
Alonso - 16** www
Massa - 2

Mercedes
Schumi - 9
Rosberg - 9* w

Lotus
Grosjean - 10
Raikkonen - 8 w
d'Ambrosio - 0

Force India
di Resta - 10
Hulkenberg - 8

Sauber
Kobayashi - 8
Perez - 10

Toro Rosso
Ricciardo - 13
Vergne - 5

Williams
Maldonado - 16* w
Senna - 2

Caterham
Kovalainen - 14
Petrov - 4

Marussia
Glock - 11
Pic - 7

HRT
de la Rosa - 15
Karthikeyan - 3

I'm just saying...

Someone said regarding quali that there is always a bigger gap between Vettel and Webber than between Alonso and Massa , and between Lewis and Button. And concluded from that that Vettel was the better qualifier. I'd say these statistics say differently. It's much close over the year between Webber and Vettel than the other top two drivers and their partners. Which gives credence to the fact that Mr. Newey gets the praise here.

Rosberg really should've done better, I can't believe it's a deadheat between himself and Old Man Michael.

Yesterday didn't count for Rosberg. He pretty much took one for the team by using a development test set up to gather data for next year.

Funny they'd use him instead of Schumacher, who'd be leaving in 2 races anyway...won't Rosberg be a lot more keen to get a good result here? Unless it was a sort of a 'gamble' which didn't pay off of course.

Maybe they wanted his feedback since he's the one staying next year? Regardless though, Schumi has settled in this year certainly, Rosberg got his win and Schumacher his podium, so symbolically at least it's another loss to the youngster for Schumacher.
