For andrew and vlad's delight.

If you find one of Hamilton's, do post it...to come within 0.1s of a dominant car should be one hell of a lap to watch.

Vettel's lap wasn't perfect, Hamilton's was smoother, there's still a tenth or two in the RB which is scary that it's that fast even not putting down a perfect lap.

Tomorrow is going to be about five degrees f warmer at race time which will change things a bit, so I'm sure we'll see some changes in the order.

Seb still has a significant performance advantage over Mark in quali though, which, when coupled with the latter's customary mediocre starts, is VERY noticeable.

There is no way Webber will match Vettel tomorrow; maybe later in the race he can close up, unless he gets into some run-ins. Vettel is in a different league in that car, i think only guys in another car could get a track-condition swing in their favour to challenge him.

The Ferraris could hope for better since they can do some damage on the straights and uphill climb. On the turns, it is toast.

The Ferrari always seems to come on strong in the race. Mark Webber to fall backwards?

Yeah, Vettel's nicked the back of his chair.

Our American tv broadcast on speed started this morning on the first lap of Q1.. after some nascar. Freaking great... American interest in F1 depends on our TV coverage.. We had F1 before, and it died out here, with the same tv broadcast. They need to realize this and give us a better program! Hello Bernie are you listening?

In order for F1 to become popular here, we need better tv broadcast. We don't get a pre-qualifying/pre-race show, instead we get a seperate program called F1 Debrief where the commentators are in a room just chitchatting about what is going on, and this broadcast show is separated from the F1 qualifying/race broadcast...Comes on at a different time from the race. The commentators are not even at the races, but in a studio, and they just send one guy out to the races to talk to the pits etc.

They don't send the main commentators out because they have commitments covering other shows on Speed as well.

I still find myself on the computer finding the other broadcasts to watch from the UK, since i feel their pre shows are soo much more involved, they get me excited about the race.

Just a quick side note about the attendance for qualifying.

82,710 fans turned up at the Circuit of Americas today. Hopefully, there'll be even more tomorrow! The grandstands and bankings looked pretty vibrant on the TV :)

120k capacity and it's sold out, I'm sure tomorrow is going to be an insane crowd. Take that Inida, and Korea and Abu Dhabi and China and why bother Bahrain. If you're going to hold a GP in a place where the fans don't show up to races, why bother?

Tickets for tomorrow purchased from all 50 states and 40 countries.

Fernando Alonso has a feeling he will score more points than Sebastian Vettel at the United States Grand Prix despite starting eight places behind the Red Bull driver on Sunday's grid.

Alonso was ninth fastest in qualifying but will gain a starting position on Sunday thanks to a five-place grid drop for Romain Grosjean. However, at the last grand prix Alonso came back through the field from sixth on the grid (after being seventh fastest in qualifying) to finish second in the race.

"We [Ferrari] were seventh and ninth in Abu Dhabi and the car is more or less the same and we are seventh and ninth in Austin - it's not surprising for us, to be honest," he said. "We said yesterday that Red Bull will be one and two and we will be seventh and eighth and people will be thinking it's all over. Then on Sunday we will show that we can score more points than Vettel - I don't know how exactly, but I have this feeling inside."

The poor guy might need to see a therapist soon.

Not sure, Alonso is a wily sod. Outqualified by Massa for first time today by some way, thats the first clue, if that was that Alonso would not be so confident, he would feel that he was not driving well

Now, what if Alonsos car was geared and set up for a particular type of race strategy? that would explain both things, the question ofcourse is what are they upto, maybe 1 stop, I just think its too much of a coincidence after Sebs result last race and Massa sudden ability to get a faster quali than Alonso

If Alonso does beat Vettel tomorrow he will have acquired a new fan
