Rosberg might appear inconsistent at times but maybe he didn't need to raise his game too much with Old Man Michael simply crashing into people and never threatening him in the WDC standings. It will be a completely different test for Rosberg in 2013, a year where he could prove himself to be a real star or just another solid journeyman.
I think that Rosberg will match and push Hamilton; I don't think he has been inconsistent at all; he pretty consistently bring the car home in 6th - 10th places when not being taken out of the race, usually through no fault of his own. Plain and simply, 6th to 10th is where Mercedes are this season, after their win in China, it has been all down hill, like Mercedes stood still while everyone else moved ahead! For Lewis' sake I hope that Mercedes can keep up with the development race next season or we could see Lewis fighting for the minor points next season!
I hope Rosberg does push Lewis because two drivers getting the most out of the car is the best way they can help get Mercedes get up fighting with the best. Then throw in the odd breathtaking drive Lewis can produce and things could be looking good. I think Lewis will have the edge in speed, particularly in quali, but nico is consistent and he knows how Mercedes work, so together their skills should help Mercedes a lot. Both guys are straightforward , what you see is what you get and both are wise enough to realise their best chance of ultimate success is to work together to move the team forward. So there should be no silly games that could wreck the team, both are above that.
