Here we go again with the speculation about next season, nobody knows what will happen next season , even pre-season testing is no indicator recently of form. I agree that Button does need to have a car that is to his liking to compete for championships but it doesn't need to be 2 - 3 seconds faster than any other car to win. McLaren have certainly lost an asset in Hamilton but there are other drivers out there as good, either on the current grid or up and coming drivers. Drivers move on; Hamilton leaving McLaren has been blown out of all proportion in my view!

Never said Lewis is solely responsible for the car's turnaround. But I say he played a part in it.

Did Button find that technical loophole in 2009? Also, did he even start testing the revolutionary chassis before the team was bought over? If so, full kudos to him I'd say it was the most earned WDC in F1 history if that was the case. :hehe:

ofcourse he played a major part in it, I dont recall the other driver demonstrating the improvement of the car on track (on track is where racing happens not in the factory or on the sim) in the fashion that leads the way for the design team. one would have to be a complete moron to say Lewis was not the spearhead of a car improving in leaps and bounds over a season

unless the engineers drove the car round the test track at nights

as for Button everyone knows barrichello is one of the best for feedback and development in the business

The other driver as you respectfully put it, who is named Hekki never got to use the new parts direct from MTC so it is a bit hard hey?

And pray, tell us why a smart team like McLaren would do something like that if Lewis' input was not needed?

take your time

'forget' to come up with a suitable retort

Pray? But again and as usual you didn't seem to get my post, I know why they used the reigning world champ...over the "other driver".

For heavens sake, it's a team effort; from the drivers (plural) to the engineers to the fabricators back at the factory, no one person is more important than another in a TEAM!

It's not the car that's rubbish, it's the reliability. Another problem was McLaren's rubbish team management early on in the Season. But the most rubbish thing this season in regards to Jenson Button has been Jenson Button. The cruise and collect specialist tries to blame the car but really he's not done so well himself this season; he's been out-performed by Lewis Hamilton.

Let's hope Sergio Perez doesn't out-performs him next season, he may find himself blaming next year's MP4-28 has a bad car as well.

Jenson calling this years McLaren a bad car is a step too far, even for me; Jenson does need to have a car that suits his driving style, if not he does struggle, I acknowledged that a long time ago, clearly there is nothing wrong with the speed of the McLaren, it does come down to reliability whether that's McLaren or the Mercedes engine, McLaren have, by far had the worst reliability of any team on the grid; which is a sad state of affairs for the team with the depth of knowledge and experience like McLaren.

I am a MacLaren fan and a Jenson fan (but have always been a Kimmi fan :cloud9: ) I know Lewis is normally faster but I just 'like' Jenson more. He is a nice guy and I want him to do well. He is also very frustrating at times - often during the race I shout FFS Jens go faster
If we were all glory hunters we would be loving on Seb right now. If you have ever watched Top Gear, Hammond and Clarkson have both driven almost F1 cars and they were shitting in their pants at the speeds they had to get to to get some heat into the tyres and they both said that F1 drivers are the tops. I think it is so very easy for us to be armchair drivers.
I am not sure how Jenson will cope with No.1 next year but I wish him all the best and for all fans of F1, I think you should be wishing all the best for every team and every driver so that we get some good racing :)

I think Mclaren are going to struggle with technical feed back if we believe what we hear about Jenson not being too hot on the subject and Perez has little experience in that area.

If Jenson is so bad at set-up; how come he has gone out on his own with setup/tyres and it's paid off for him. Jenson can only set up the car for himself; maybe it'll be different with Perez as they seem to have similar driving styles, so they can probably help each other, Lewis and Jenson has such different driving styles that it's hard to set up a car for a good balance for both drivers. Although I do think that McLaren's centralised system doesn't work, each driver should have his own mechanics and engineers and never the twain shall meet!
