It wasn't funny to suggest that he had to work hard, but continue to think that way if you want.

Edit: Since you will likely complain about that, I'll elaborate. What I found specifically funny was the bit about "pampered" and "lazy" drivers, when being compared to someone who had significant backing from a top team.

So someone with significant backing based on meeting high targets at every stage is comparable with one whose father is a race driver and gets a drive in a top team for one year and turns out to be a lazy playboy (words of his TP)

and the latter gets favoured over the former to the point the latter leaves the team
