....Then there's the conspiracy against them........

As much as youve tried with this over the last 12 hours Andrew, no-one seems to be taking the bait.

It's true man. It goes deeper than you think. Max Mosley is behind it. He's already seen of the NOTW, now he's after Red Bull. It's worse than the Whitmarsh conspiracy.

Yeah, I'll give up with the conspiracy talk. At least mine was more believable than David Icke's one. :hehe:

I'll have to think of another one. :hehe: Notice how you never see DD and Felipe Massa at the same time. Just saying........ :hehe:

My guess is that Alonso will overtake Vettel by 1 or 2 points after this race. The final 2 races will be a living hell.

The job was reasonably straight forward - finish ahead of Alonso at each race. Now it's been handed to Alonso on a silver platter.

:censored: Renault! :blaster:

Renault don't fuel the cars.

And, much as I like Seb, he played at least an equal role in not leaving enough fuel. It would have been clear to Seb and the pit wall that they put the absolute bare minimum in the car to do the laps necessary and return with 1 litre. Seb had complete control over how aggressive he was in fuel usage, he also had control over the mix used (on his steering wheel). He had this control, not just on his actual timed lap, but on the lead-up and come-in lap. Given that on a normal lap you use about 2.5Kgs of fuel, a small change in Seb's driving might well have ensured he had 1 litre to give for the sample.

Having said all that, it's passed, best thing Seb and the team can do is move on. Anything can happen, and, I'd bet my left one that there are more surprises to be yielded between now and the finish at Brazil.

I thought he had an engine fault or something like that? So it was just some halfwit who can't work a calculator then?

As I mentioned in my post above, no-one has more control over how much fuel is used than Seb himself.

Seeing as the cars don't have fuel gauges it's the team that have to control the fuel consumption. If fuel was low they should have told him to abort his fast lap. As with Hamilton not having enough fuel earlier this year I wouldn't blame the driver unless they ignore their engineers instructions.

So we go back to my question - how did this happen? Did someone do their sums wrong or was it a fault with the car?

It would be nice if Webber could repeat a good start from India.

I'm more interested in seeing what would happen when Alonso is behind Webber....won't be surprised to see Webber making an 'error' under braking at the very next corner and letting Alonso through. :hehe:

Here's Bensons take on the fuel issue. I've read so many different accounts of it now I've gone brain numb!!

Hopefully Vettel has a DNF in his desperate drive through the field or perhaps that graze against the barrier will show a problem in the race. :gunfiring:
