As far as I'm concerned... the 50~60 MPH gusts are gone... all that's left is a steady rain and no wind to speak of. When you live in a forest, the wind is the thing that's most scary.

I think the thing that helped most is that it gained speed so it passed by in a much shorter time period than anticipated and so it did less damage and less rain. Our gain was NYC's loss though, they got a lot more of the impact on the back end.

The storm made it as far inland as Michigan and Illinois from what I've seen.
