Does anyone know of any good books or websites (preferably the former) that go into great detail about the design aspects of Formula 1 cars? I've always been interested in the subject, but can only ever really find basic information. I'm looking for really in-depth stuff that analyses pretty much every aspect of a modern F1 car.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Try your local Barnes & Noble as they usually have quite a bit. If you find a book during research check with B&N and see if they can order it for you,.

Good luck,

Barnes & Noble...? :P

I've never heard of it, to be honest. I've looked at Waterstones and WH Smith, but found nothing. I've found a few things on Amazon, but it's rather hard to tell from the front cover and a brief, unhelpful description, whether they're really in-depth, or just explain the basic principles of aerodynamics, suspension, chassis design, transmission, engines etc. which I am already aware of. I'm hoping to get to Manchester at some point in the future - there are several book shops there that are bigger than the ones in my town.

Thanks, though. If I find anything, I'll make sure to let people know in case they are interested. :)

Look on amazon.co.uk or play.com. They have a lot of weird and wonderful books that cannot be bought on the high street.

I found a couple, which I am going to try to get extra information on. This, this (albeit, sort of out-dated now) and a few others that are about various types of cars in motorsports, albeit really technical stuff, each book dedicated only to a certain aspect, such as aerodynamics, engines etc.

I think I might try one or two of them, if funds allow. :)

I can think of one that MIGHT help in that dept. One of Steve Matchett's books is called The Chariot Makers which discusses car construction in an informal manner. I have all 3 of his books and they are great!

Sweet! Thank you. That's quite helpful :)

I've decided that, for now, I'm going to try the '06-07 Technical Analysis one and see how that goes. Thank you all for replying. :)
