What is everyone's take on it? I can not help think that it was only put onto the car for this race for a reason

using phone, so beware of predictive text errors.

You're right, it's only on the car for this race.

I don't see anything wrong with it. They are showing support for their fellow countrymen. I think the F1 powers that be might be concerned with any political issues this may cause.

Its ridiculous, whats next a Berlusconi flag? or maybe a Jim will Fix it sticker

The law in a country is dealing with 2 Italians who killed a couple of innocent Indians. We dont know the details, its for the courts and legal system to decide whats what

How arrogant for an Italian team to take sides whilst in the country that is attempting to put the case through the legislated process. Maybe Ferrari are forgetting that its not the colonial days anymore where they can turn up to Abyssinia, throw their weight around (and almost get their asses kicked)

And the dumb general public will sit around and say 'nah, its just for one race, there's no meaning to it, its ok for an Italian team to support any Italians in trouble with the law overseas, whether they raped killed or stole something'

Yup, I reckon a Jim will fix it sticker would also be ok for these types

Its Ferrari, just another carmaker who thinks they are some sort of God given religion to the world. What do you expect from them, modesty? I hope they are given as much heat as possible through this weekend, how bloody rude to step on someone else's soil and act like arrogant brats.

That is what I mean how can it be anything other than a political statement.

I agree with the overall opinion of your post.

But it does make me chuckle that in one paragraph you say that we don't know the true details of the case, and it's for the courts to decide what's what.... yet in the very previous sentence have decided the farmers were totally innocent, and the Italians are killers.....? :-?

Those facts are not in dispute, the Indians were not pirates but fishermen. The Italian sailors DID kill them

I think the courts are trying to find out whether the killings were unlawful, so I guess those are the details I mean

In any case we dont know all the facts, neither do Ferrari, but we are not the ones taking a stand by leveraging a high sporting profile to try circumvent due process

From what I read, the MV Enrica Lexie was in pirate infested waters. A fishing boat (a type of vessel commonly used by pirates) approached the tanker and several warning shots were fired by the Italian marines aboard. The smaller vessel cdidn't move away so the Italian marines opened fire, clearly thinking that these were pirates.

Looks like a terrible case of mistaken identity but you can't really blame the tanker crew as the fishing vessel seemed to ignore the warning shots. Obviously their thinking was that if this was a legitimate fishing vessel it would have moved away.

Anyway, that's my understanding based on the sketchy details that have been released. Bit odd that we are only hearing about this now when it happened back in February.

Wow since you've got it all figured out by reading some news piece, maybe you should go join the jury and help them solve this case.
