That's great news for Button, I'm sure he's looking forward to the challenge of leading McLaren towards their next phase of existence and success in F1.

Great news for Team Button you mean?
Well... maybe one day Mclaren will get the chance to dominate a season with wins and pts instead of headlines..........

Even without being dominant, they've been doing a swell job of beating Ferrari soundly enough for the last few years... just not Red Bull... wonder what will happen this year. It's so exciting.

The McLaren fans and the Hamilton fans will have SO MUCH fun over the close-season. Harmonious times lie ahead

there may be much water under the bridge if they can get a couple of wins and podiums for the remainder of the season. McLaren and Lewis have not been in step and perhaps there's disenchantment and disappointment on the part of both camps as Lewis has driven better this year and with more maturity than he has in his entire career. McLaren showed up at the beginning of the year with the fastest car, and have had the outright fastest machine on the grid for the majority of races, yet they've failed to capitalize on that.

Little to be disappointed about as a Lewis fan, lots to be frustrated about as a McLaren fan, it's all on team Button's shoulders going forward now.

so we were right. When we commented all those months ago on Whitmarsh saying Button is leading the team. Lead on Jenson. They're not even trying to hide the fact anymore. Will Perez get a look in I wonder? Lets hope He at least knows how to set the car up when Jenson goes down the next blind alley. But then its not my problem what happens anymore. :P

You McLaren fans are a right miserable bunch!

He's going to be the more experienced driver next year. What do you expect them to do? Make some kid their lead driver? Only Ron Dennis would do something stupid like that. Maybe now McLaren can get rid of this ridiculous set up of both drivers being treated as equal and actually work as a team with a 1-2 set-up.

Alain Prost coming back as a driver, Senna revived from the dead, Ron Dennis taking back charge of the race team, Honda back as the engine supplier???:clap::clap:

Because that's the last time they managed to 'dominate a season with wins and points'....and since then they have had like....3 Championships, 1 of them delivered by the guy who you hate so much. As usual...clueless.

I'm not miserable, Im delighted Lewis is out of there!
Perez isn't a kid and as far as I know Ron Dennis didn't make anyone a lead driver.
Ok, you mention experience. Lewis has been with this team for 6 years now InF1 and several years before it and he has to endure Whitmarsh saying 'Jensen is fantastic at setting up the car and leading the team and Lewis is learning' . I think his comments probably preceded Button's 7 race 'no grip no balance' period, when the whole Mclaren engineering team were studying Hamiltons set up to sort Button out. Way to show respect to the driver who has delivered the only championship for years. And you wonder why Hamilton was isolated.

Let's wait and see how Button does next season being McLaren's number one.

IMO, they are all going to look like clowns. McLaren are off there heads making Button their golden boy, as he's isn't good enough to win them anything imo.

Absolute madness. Whitmarsh has lost the plot.

An easy mistake seeing as your signature is littered with Mclaren trash. :whip:

It's perfectly normal when one driver is struggling for a team to use the other drivers set-up as a basis to rectify the problem. It isn't showing a lack of respect or undermining anyone in the least. Surely it's showing a huge amount of respect to the driver that isn't struggling that the team have faith in him?

I think you're looking for something that isn't there. F1 is a team sport, not a driver sport. McLaren, as with all teams, are only really interested in the Constructors Championship so they have to do what they can to maximise the points scored at every race. If this means focussing on a driver that is struggling whilst their team mate is doing ok then that is perfectly normal and acceptable.

It's a driver and a team sport. And the driver not struggling this year is Lewis, the one shown no respect.
Regarding my signature, you are correct, it needs tidying up. I might have to enlist helpers for this, though I haven't completely designed it yet. Lewis winning the championship can stay :D

The drivers championship is not a priority to the teams compared with the constructors championship. The fact that the team used Hamiltons set-up to help Button is showing a huge amount of faith and respect in Hamilton getting the set-up correct. If driver A is doing fine on their own and driver B is struggling then which should the team help? Driver B of course! For example, I had 2 new guys dumped on me at work a few weeks ago. One was struggling with the IT side of things and the other was managing fine and needed very little supervision. According to your reasoning, I should have been spending my time looking over the shoulder of the one that was managing fine and leave the guy that was struggling to make mistakes that could potentially have quite serious implications if these mistakes are not caught further down the line (it has happened). Similar situation here. McLaren have been helping the guy that was struggling so they can get back to having a strong driver pairing. I see nothing wrong with this at all. In fact, McLaren should be applauded for their efforts to help Button and not leaving him to sink, like Ferrari have done with Massa. No doubt if the driver position were reversed you'd be congratulating McLaren for helping your driver.

I'll sell you mine. I think you'll agree it is fantastic in every way imaginable. I can easily change the name. The cost to you would be £50. :D
