Guys, what's that news about some BBC old reporter being pedophile and the other one resigning his post?

Jim went and fixed it.

No, it's just that I saw shortly on the news that it's a big scandal, but I have no idea about it.

Turns out a popular TV personality in the UK (recently deceased) fiddled a load of kids. BBC Newsnight opted not to investigate, complaints flooded in, and their TV director has duly stepped aside.

Some guy who worked at the BBC was allegedly a paedophile, apparently some people at the BBC failed to properly investigate at the time.

What has the world come to? Now the Catholic church places its pedophiles with the BBC because the parishes are fed up with the musical chair game?:whip:

I'll point out that it is all allegations at the moment which look like they'll never be proven or disproved.

It's pretty conclusive.

Why wait until now? These people have no hope of receiving justice seeing as he's been dead for 18 months so what do they hope to gain from it all?

This is an interesting read (despite being in the Daily Mail) - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2219442/BBCs-John-Humphrys-calls-Jimmy-Saviles-alleged-abuse-banter.html

There are 2 sides to every story. Sadly we'll only hear one side with this.

lol, I was about to resort to asking if it was sarcasm, think it's clear now.

No, I was being serious but I've been wanting to use the Gene Wilder/Willy Wonka meme for ages. :) You sound as if you have a story to share.

*breaks long quote chain*

Won't go into a lot of detail - that might just make the fears worse, well the main one is I've been avoiding that friend I was "honest and sincere with" again (out of disproportionate/irrational fear).

*starts new quote chain :hehe: *

If they are a good friend then the friendship should last pretty much anything.

A few years ago now when I was young and stupid, I went out and lived with my best mates ex bird. He often said we were pretty much like brothers, that's how close a friendship it was. We lasted through that and he was around for me during what was quite a difficult 18 months with a lass who turned out to be quite volitile that ended up contributing to some health problems which have had a drastic change to my life. He was around for me when the bird and I split up (it was completely out of the blue) and I was totally destroyed. We don't see so much of each other now seeing as he no longer lives 2 minutes round the corner and our lives have sort of taken different paths but we still have a catch up or exchange a friendly wave if he is in around or passing the base I work at - turns out he is legally allowed to drive an HGV, which having been in a van and a car with him is a bit of a surprise but he'll say the same about me being allowed to drive what is basically a 13 ton lump of solid steel, but I digress.

Point is, if they are a good friend your friendship should stand up to nearly anything. It'll maybe be a bit rough or awkward in the short term but in the long run it should be ok. :)
