We're the best thing to happen to this thread. :D Someone has to brighten it up. :hehe:

Someone had to tell Columbus he would fall over the edge.

Oh, i see your sniping edit now. Good one... but i'm sure most of the board has my back when it comes to it. :thefinger:

Okay, you misunderstood me. I WAS calling for the Mods (which is you) since I wasn't referring to you f**king up this thread. Jeez man, I thought I had made it clearer in that post, instead I made it worse. If my edit confused you, I apologize for that.

I wonder what the world would be like if he hadn't stumbled upon America?

Most of the last posts have gone over my head :P . Eee sometimes it's good miss the point. I don't know what you're all on about  but I'm ideally equipped to get this thread back on track. Lewis, next year, what's gonna happen?

Well, as you will no doubt have seen i already spoke to you in pm in detail, but for public benefit let's say simply it's time move on and get back to the topic.

Beats Rosberg easily over the course of the season (cause Rosberg goes missing in a lot of races), podiums for both probably very possible with a small chance of a win though, but really it's on the car which is quite suspect at the moment, and every season seems to have started off ok but fallen back a bit as the others find their feet. Quite weird really cause i remember in Australia quali this W03 looked AMAZING, was hooked up and changing direction brilliantly. I still believe too many cooks spoil the broth in motorsport and that is happening at Mercedes, but there are positives there, definitely.

Yep, there are positives and potentials. I think Lewis will feel easier in Mercedes and will revel in the opportunity to be his own person(I think he's had strong characters telling him what's best for him for all his career) while this had had its benefits, it's time for Lewis to step out of the shadow. I hope he gets a good car, it's a gamble, but I think one worth taking. It's exciting. Mercedes has all the pieces in place and could get podiums but I think 2014 will be the telling year. I think Lewis and Rosberg will be a good partnership.

In a nutshell!

I think his biggest problem is McLaren treating him like he's their child (Whitmarsh can't stop talking about "I knew him since he's 9" or whatever...and he'll forever be their child and not taken seriously. Which is what he's probably feeling in the team, it's a tough decision to make but career success comes first. It's not his real family after all, if he can build a professional relationship where everyone works in a coherent manner at Mercedes and is respected as a damn good driver...he's made it there.

I keep hearing about 2014 but I don't see any large enough benefit Mercedes will have in terms of the engine over other Merc teams. Nothing that would be a giant leap forward for them anyhow.

It's undoubtably a gamble. He's going from a top 3 team to a midfield team. But for the reasons mentioned I think it's the right thing for him. If it works, he'll be part of it and can feel a real sense of achievement. If it doesn't, and he gives it three or four years, he'll still only be 30. Next year will be a building year which s why I mentioned 2014, and they could steel a march with the new regs and engine.

I think they believe Lewis to be a great leap forward for them.

I think the gamble might be worth it. He's young, got a good contract, the team looks promising.

Only problem is that Merc has looked promising for yrs... but if they are finally able to breakthrough, then it should be in a solid manner (ie not likely a one-hit-wonder).

Lewis should do better than Nico, if not immediately, at least once he comes to terms with the car and team dynamics.

The whole "working on next yr's car" doesn't mean much this time around cause it seems the regs are not changing much. So, if they at least are able to catch up, anything could happen next yr... from a few podiums to even a win or so. No one knows, but Merc has been such a let down i wouldn't even bother anymore to expect them to be on form.

One thing for sure Merc will be getting is more attention... or less indifference. C'mon, could they be any duller?? Their colours even camouflage with the track!

So yeah... "That's Mercedes" threads will have more than 1 page :hehe:

Their colours are indeed quite dull.

I've always claimed the McLaren is the best looking car on the grid. It looks the business, even if it doesn't deliver the business.

Maybe Merc will have a revamp. New era?
