The GEICO gecko; "The reason we get car insurance is not because of how good a driver one is, it's because of how good a driver one thinks they are."

I had not thought of it as a kick up the butt for Alonso as well. Win a championship or Vettel will be sat next to you.

Personally I think its win or not, Vettel will be next to you soon.

Obviously we're just speculating on this. No problem though, speculating is fun ;)

Win or not Vettel will be here soon; but win = you choose some conditions; lose = we choose some conditions. And then there must be some conditions for both of them that Ferrari will just not negotiate. I believe somewhere around there is the drill.....

I thing if Alonso does not win this year or next then I think the Tifosi will be looking for their next hero.

Maybe they look into their past and see a young German chap who has brought a team from no where and turned them into a world championship team and won a couple of championships along the way. I am sure if they look at the grid they might find someone that will fit that bill.

The team was nowhere near nowhere...Newey and all the key guys were in place, Vettel stepped into a great platform and took it from there. It was DC and Webber who brought a defunct Jaguar team onto a strong foundation to build from, and then comes a very quick driver to make use of the machinery.

It was a strong foundation until Jaguar/ford took it over.

That's not a problem. The hero is whomever gets the job well done, aka get the championship; be it Alonso, Massa, Kimi, those german chaps or even a certain british one.

I'm an Alonso fan as well, so if its him great. He still does a great job, and still did a great job this yr even if he doesn't win it.

If it takes a super strong driver pair to do it... good. If it takes the best car, good too. Best engineers?
Winning is the name of the game. ;)

Winning must be the game, cos I never saw Schumacher as a typical Ferrari driver.......but he won. Gilles Villeneuve, Alesi, Ayrton , those to me were Ferrari drivers. ( I'm not even going near the current crop!)

What defines a driver as being a Ferrari driver?

I would have thought driving for Ferrari made one a Ferrari driver...

Apart from that. How is Schumacher not a typical Ferrari driver?

He was a complete machine and won five titles with them. How many other Ferrari drivers did that? ;)
