Reliability is always crucial, this could well play into McLaren's hands if they have kept on top of their seemingly bullet-proof reliability from last year. Reliability won them the Championship in 1991 despite the MP4/6 not being as fast as Williams' FW14, and it also cost them in 2005 when their MP4/20 was faster than the Renault R25 but not as reliable.

Leaving aside the politics of last year, you could apply that. The Ferrari F2007 just shaded the McLaren MP4-22 in terms of speed, but its supreme reliability would have won McLaren the constructors' title.

The F2008 has had a few issues (an engine failure and some other gremlins). Could this cause them problems? I hope so because the pace of the car looks to be good (so does the the MP4-23 to be fair, but you know what I mean).

I have assessed things objectively and then expressed my wishes that Ferrari have some reliability issues. That does not distort the facts, which are: The F2007 was slightly faster than than MP4-22, but less reliable; The F2008 looks to be having some reliability issues and other gremlins and, touch wood, the MP4-23 doesn't.

But, is the MP4-23 as capable of winning races as the F2008? That will be the factor that decides which team wins the WCC this season. If it's as it was last year, with the McLarens and Ferraris both winning plenty of races, and the McLarens being more reliable than the Ferraris, then it's possible that they'll be in a position to win the WCC again, even if not the WDC. However, they don't have the Alonso/Hamilton pairing. Whilst I have some dislike for his actions, I can't deny the fact that Alonso is good at racing and winning. If Heikki can perform as well as that, which is possible but I don't think is quite likely just yet, then they can win the constructors' championship.
