I agree. There shouldn't be customer cars in F1, unless it goes back to the days where anyone can buy a car and enter, to make it fair. Otherwise, the WCC would have to be thrown out, because half of the field couldn't technically participate in it.

Also, it bugs me when people don't mention Red Bull in this row. Now, I absolutely love Red Bull, but like Toro Rosso, they are breaking the rules concerning customer cars.

I agree. It's another sign that Ecclestone would do anything to make more money, in this case by allowing anybody on the grid. Formula One should be for constructors only. If you cannot design a car and get a suitable engine, you are not worthy of entering. You also have to consider the other teams who don't have B-teams. They are at a disadvantage, for they do not have another team collecting data for them and testing parts. Sure, the old Saubers looked like Ferraris; Red Bull and Torro Rosso, Honda and Super Aguri have some symbiotic relationship going which is unfair and probably contravenes the Concorde Agreement (which Ecclestone has sidestepped in order to get a few extra teams on the grid, regardless of their worth, to make a few quid).

The old Saubers were Ferraris! :P

I would love for Toro Rosso and Super Aguri to either design their own cars or else leave the grid and allow a proper team, the kind that Jordan and Minardi were back in their day, to join the pack. I think that people overlook the fact that Red Bull Racing don't actually make their own cars, and just assume that Toro Rosso use the RBRs.

I think the whole thing stinks, the FIA should just allow Customer Cars

The thing about Minardi and Jordan was that although they were small teams, they still gave a lot to the sport. For instance, Eddie Jordan and Paul Stoddart were charismatic, and we all know about the glamorous Jordan Babes. What have the likes of Torro Rosso given us in the way of passion or atmosphere? Nothing. I was disgusted when ProDrive were given the nod ahead of Minardi and Jordan.

I know! I would've loved to see Jordan back in it, or even Minardi, but for the people that know me, they know that the yellow cars are the ones I loved to watch :P

^^ It would be good to have a solid ruling on it, but if they allowed customer cars, the constructors' championship couldn't work anymore.

I would agree, allow the cars to run but exclude the teams from the constructors championship. Perhaps set up an Aguri Cup (OR something, I can't be bothered to think of the name of an older customer team ATM) for them to compete for

You could have classes like the do in the lower formula, Le Mans etc. How about something like the constructors' class and the customer class?

In my view, you are still left with the problem of one team having a B-team which will be testing parts and gathering data for its parent team. It goes completely against Mosley's idea of limiting testing etc.

I also think it's against the ethos of the sport and that that idea was only raised for reasons of commerce.

I just think we need as many cars as possible on the grid.

I'd rather we got back to the less regulated days of old and for god's sake field a whole grid for once.
