The Red Bull mechanic who insisted live on the BBC that the pitstop error was a deliberate attempt by McLaren to sabotage their race clearly needs help.

Was it not an attempt at humour?

Nope. I remember it clear as day. There will no doubt be some related discussion in the thread of the time, but thankfully, he was the only person with such issues.

I don't know. He had a bit of a wry smile at one point and let's face it, it's the best opportunity ever for a professional piss take. I didn't take it too seriously at the time.

If you ask DC, according to his book which I have read, the air was toxic before he got there. He was hated by the brass. Ron didn't like him, even before they hired him. They only hired him as a tool.

Does he mention toxic in what way? That's a book I've been meaning to get hold of for a long time.

This is what happens when you have good accountants

The British Formula One motor racing team McLaren has successfully argued that a £49m fine it had to pay for cheating is tax deductible.

The BBC's sports correspondent Gordon Farquhar and Julian Hedley, partner at chartered accountants Saffery Champness, examine why McLaren say the fine should be offset against its other tax liabilities.
