Well I am firmly part of team Button!!!! Lewis can go play at Mercedes all he likes, BUTTON RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see some support for Jenson around here, amidst the constant storm of hate and bashing. Good on ya mate.

I'm not alone after all :D

For some reason, I didn't really think of Jabberwocky as Jenson fan; then I just remembered that he named his son Jenson; or maybe he was named after the car maker?

I'm loving the way that the Lewis fans are saying that Jenson can't do this, can't do that... next season is a new season and we don't know what will happen; McLaren may create a monster car and Jenson could win nearly every race; a la SV in 2011, given a car to his liking, Jenson can be uber faster, Jenson can build a team around him, he has done it at McLaren, much to RC's annoyance!

Put it this way, if Button has another crappy season then the detractors will claim they have been justified in their rantings regardless of the quality of the car is or any actual problems. However, if Button has a great year and wins or is a serious title contender they'll claim that all the other top teams have dropped the ball or McLaren have been cheating or the car is amazingly fantastic or team orders or conspiracy againt Perez. The poor chap is caught between a rock and a hard place. I hope I'm wrong in saying this and my faith in humanity is eventually restored but experience tells me otherwise.

Ultimately, if he wasn't a top driver he would not be in a top team. Even the best drivers have a wobble and suffer a poor run of fortune. Some runs last for a few races other last for most of the season. Just one of those things really but it doesn't mean that a driver is untalented or not good enough!

I think button is a great person, I think racechick is just bat crazy and bordeline becoming Cathy Bates in Misery and Lewis Hamiliton is the victim.

Of course Jenson is going to step up and say he'd like the team to be around him. Even though perez is an excellent driver, he's still very new. I personally don't see them giving the team to jenson, just because he wants it that way doesn't mean it WILL be that way.

I think lewis made the biggest mistake of his career, and I don't think we'll see much of him if Merc doesn't pull their heads out of there asses and make a good car.

I've not said Button can't build a team around him because clearly he has. I'm saying I don't like the way he's gone about it. neither have I said he won't win races next year because he probably will and Lewis probably won't. even if he wins the championship because he's lucked into another rocketship it won't change my opinion of him, which has dropped considerably over the past two years.
I'm going to enjoy watching what Lewis does at Mercedes and I think he's definitely made the right decision.

If Lewis has a successful stint with Mercedes will he get any credit from his detractors? I said many times over the year that I liked Mclaren's driver pairing best, they had two different skill sets and could win with either driver, obviously a claim that could only be made by Red Bull. I believe that next year McLaren will no longer have the best driver pairing on the grid, but sometimes it's all about the car and not so much about the driver... let's see what happens.

What are the odds of the McLaren - Button partnership doing well?

Okay, let's see the history...

McLaren = 1 WDC in 13 years

Button = Whichever team he went to were solid backmarkers and stayed there until he nearly had no F1 seat....until a mega break through with Brawn brought him 1 WDC. Mostly beaten by his teammates...I think his highlight before the Brawn year was beating Jacques Villenueve. Now he is the lead driver of McLaren, a front running team which is getting more and more diversified in their operations.

Seriously, this is my promise...if McLaren and Button manage to win the WDC next year, major hats off to them and I'll put this sentence as my fingerprint for the whole of the offseason: "Hammer278 was a DUMB FREAKIN idiot to count out the amazing Jenson Button and the greatest F1 team of all time = McLaren Mercedes. Lewis and Mercedes is S*!T".

How's that for confidence.

Yes I am a Jenson fan (son named after the driver not the car. The car is spelt different as well, I think)
However I am not blinded to his flaws and will say it how I see it.

Will Button win the championship next year... Probably not.
Will Hamilton win the Championship next year... Probably not.

Now I have real reason to cheer on Jenson next season, although you don't have to go as far as saying Lewis is sh*t; we know he's a great driver; he just needs to curb his impetuousness.

Button may want to build a team around himself but i don't see how it's possible with the arrival of Perez who is very similar in style to JB and if the last race in Japan is anything to go by he proved that he has a great desire to compete on the track with the wonderful overtake he performed on Lewis( Yes he binned it the 2nd time around but he is a very level headed young man and i think driving for mclaren will only see his skill sets improve)
Will JB be faster in qualifying than Perez? and will their race pace and tyre management be that much different from each other? From what i have seen the answer is no. The intra-team battle at mclaren next year is something i am looking forward to and it might even be a highlight of the 2013 season so while Alonso still has number1 status at Ferrari, Perez and Button are just gonna be taking points off each other for the whole season especially if mclaren stick to their belief in equal status for the drivers.

Rational, well written and even handed first post on the forum? What are you trying to do ruin it for EVERYONE? Welcome Neo, maybe you should say hello and write a short snippet about yourself in the introductions section.
