the new renault isnt looking too special atm! :( might be another disappointing year, yucky colours aswell :(

Renault don't have the cash; the other teams will bleed them dry. This is only my personal view, but I think people overestimate the size of Renault as a team. In their title winning years, they were punching well above their weight.

yeah i agree, they did so very well compared to the teams budgets they were beating, so it worries me for the future with toyota, honda spending more than them, bring on the budget cap!

The thing is why does everybody expect them to do so well? For instance, people are saying Renault will be a force again next season. I just don't see it and neither did Alonso, hence he wanted a one-year deal and thrashed out some kind of get-out clause in his new contract. Ferrari, McLaren and BMW are currently ahead of them; Williams and Red Bull are quickly catching up; and when Honda and (if) Toyota sort themselves out, look what Renault are up against; with the exception of Williams, all of those teams are pumping more money into the sport than Renault. It's as well they have some good people at the team, like Pat Symmonds. The budget cap cannot come soon enough for them. The extra money the other teams have will have to take its toll proper some time soon.

yeah i can see it too, unless the budget cut comes renault are just gonna slide down the rankings, and then theyll leave, cause you dont want a team in f1 to sell cars at the back of the grid,

I'd like to think so, but I can't see him beating Kimi on too many occasions..

I'm not really as excited for this season because I just fear that Renault are going to he where they were last year, where as last year I expected more wins, as fernando saidthat they need to find a whole second, and that just doesn't happen often

I have a difficult time picturing Alonso not fighting for a championship. One thing I have learned about watching the last 2 seasons of F1 is that ANYTHING can happen and how fast things can change. Perhaps Renault find there second and everyone will be saying they knew they could do it.

I think we get a nice season with great battles between McLaren, Ferrari, BMW-Sauber and maybe Renault. And I hope also that there is a comeback of Honda. I'm looking forward to it.

A season when about 5 different constructors make cars capable of winning races would be tasty, could this year be one of them? :D

If we get another 4 or even 5 way battle for the Championship that would be cool, especially if it's involving drivers from 3 different teams. F1 really is on the big ascendancy again with the big aero-reg changes coming in for 2009 as well to increase overtaking. :)

I don't think anyone can be sure. Changes in having to make components last longer such as the transmission may affect the outcome of some of the top teams. Being a BMW Sauber fan, I am not too happy. They have grenades strapped to their transmissions... every other week they had gear box problems. :(

Reliability is always crucial, this could well play into McLaren's hands if they have kept on top of their seemingly bullet-proof reliability from last year. Reliability won them the Championship in 1991 despite the MP4/6 not being as fast as Williams' FW14, and it also cost them in 2005 when their MP4/20 was faster than the Renault R25 but not as reliable.
