Last year McLaren Cheated-so the story goes. But they did it very badly.
RULES FOR CHEATING-McLaren take note
1. Make sure you have the head of the FIA in your pocket
2. Ensure the FIA has members of your team on its board
3. Bend the rules like they were car floors
4. If the rules can’t be bent then change them! Preferably mid-season and especially if a competitor has a piece of technology that works on his car but you can’t make it work on yours.
5. Forbid one of your drivers from racing and insist he supports favoured driver to the point of ridiculous race fixing situations that insult racing fans
6. Allow favoured driver to put at risk other racers by driving dangerously and against commonly accepted sporting code. HOWEVER should any other driver do anything approaching that to your favoured driver then protest vehemently!
7. Should your attempts at cheating be scuppered then engage in lots of loud shouting and arm waving, pull righteous-hard-done-by faces and make lots of indignant protests. Also set up big smoke screen with help of FIA to accuse another team of cheating(preferably one who is likely to beat you)
8. Ensure of course that race stewards will always act in your favour ( with the odd result thrown in the direction of a competitor to make things look above board)

McLaren you didnt tick anywhere near enough boxes! Reconsider your desire to take part in this sport!!

What can I say nice post, you put a lot of thought and effort in that. Very touchy indeed. Say when McLaren eventually becomes Mercedes and Ron Dennis becomes as good as gone, maybe this so called FIA-Ferrari joint venture will cease and you will have your fair and equal playing ground. I am one of those who anticipate a Mercedes take over. I am not saying this to be a pest as some may think. Based on what I have read and seen (countless times now) it seems imminente that the Mercedes full take over will happen. It is just a question of when? So when it does become Mercedes, it would mean that Ron Dennis will no longer be team boss. This means that even if Max Mosely is still the FIA president, there will be no more reason for him to not like the new team "Mercedes" thus no longer supposedly favouring Ferrari. Therefore using the point of you that the so called love - hate relationship between Max and Ron will end then there will be no more reason why Ferrari should continue to be supposedly favoured by the FIA. This is why I welcome the long anticpated and imminente Mercedes full take over of McLaren. It is not because I supposedly according to McLaren Fan and the like Hate McLaren more than I love Ferrari.

In the end this new Mercedes team will still be a Woking based team, no different to what McLaren is now. All that will change is the name, the main shareholders/owners and the classed nationality of the team from British to German. There is a chance that initially the McLaren name or identity will be somewhat retained. This I would anticipate as well but like with most takeovers, the original name will eventually slowly fade away and with that disapear. This mainily may occur because of the strong history of Mercedes in the world of automobilismo and racing. McLaren has got history. Ferrari history is even greater, but that of Mercedes-Benz is even greater still. And please understand this isn't a comment made out of haste and hate, it is one made based on what normally happens with take overs, especially one of this calibre.

racechick i can't believe you are so cynical  I know Ferrari are unacceptably close to the FIA but to say that they cheat with no evidence is wrong in my book

Say when McLaren eventually becomes Mercedes.

That won't happen, even when Mercedes do buy out McLaren they won't be stupid enough to wipe out the legendary name. Bruce McLaren would turn in his grave if they did.

It helps to invoke the police of your country when the circus visits there, to watch for the commision of crimes by the team likely to beat you, but no one else.

Nice one race chick - very erudite.

Here's a couple of boxes that McL did tick -
1. Dont complain too much when another team steals your data but the FIA does bugger all about it.
2. Pretend to the world that the team has utmost respect for the FIA and its leader.
