What has been LOST is what's most important which is the on-track result's. I could care less about what happen's behind 'closed door's' because it is something I have no control over! I say "pull up your knicker's, wipe the tear's from your eye's and do something about it on the track"!
The incesent moaning and groaning has become so tiresome that I almost hate to login now. '07 is in the past, complete history, but it is still being used as a scape goat. I will post no further replie's to this thread but only enjoy the feedback, flame suit on!
You are right tex, I have done my fair share of comment on the events of last year, but, the point is that one cannot separate on track racing and off track politicking. One affects the other, for example, the 'spygate' scandal probably would not have happened, or would have been a minor event, if it had been a minor team involved rather than the 2 top teams, who were very close together in the WDC.
Real fans, of any sport, do get passionate about their sport and that includes the off sport politics. Cricket has had similar issues recently, Rugby Union and so on all have similar issues.
Most F1 teams actively continue to 'compete' when the races are over. Finding transgressions in the rules is one effective way of weakening a competitor - whether we (the fans) like it or not.
I have long said that all teams place too much emphasis on winning at any cost, satisfying sponsors, propping up their own egos but not enough time considering what the fans want. The fans are crucial to F1 - No fans, no sponsors, - no sponsors no F1. When these issues come up it leaves us fans feeling isolated from our sport because we don't really know what is going on, so we get into heated debates, based on opinion rather than fact, that do turn unnecessarily personal at times. I do agree with you that, sometimes the standards of some posts fall considerably short of reasoned discussion about F1 issues.
