Just heard something elsewhere. Basically i know a guy who knows a guy who works in F1 and seems to think Hulkenburg to Ferrari is a done deal... hardly official, but it seems that rumour is gaining speed...

The incredible Hulkenburg at a good team, please...

What is so incredible about him? His pole at Brazil 2 years ago really did do wonders for his reputation! But he's been completely overshadowed by DiResta at FI.

Well, that is exactly it, imo that pole showed a spark of brilliance that not many drivers have (ie when a driver pulls some wtf brilliant driving out the bag), and i don't think Di Resta has that (i think he is Heidfeld mk2). So i guess it comes down to potential.

Did you see the pass Massa pulled off in Singapore? It doesn't get more brilliant than that in the sport so flashes of brilliance are not always the best indicators. Anyway, good for the Hulk if he manages to get a pair of red overalls even if just for a year. I hope he's able to get some decent results and a fair bit of experience in a top team.

Hulkenburg has generally done ok, with some good performances to mark him out I think, not limited to the one already mentioned although that is the most exponent.

Uh yeah, that was the best overtaking move I've seen since forever! I could've enjoyed it a lot more if Lewis was still in the race though. :hehe:

It's not that comparable to Hulkenburg's lap anyway, Hulkenburg switched on the tyres going increasingly faster as his did so, his teammate (Rubens) was unable to, there was clear driver merit, Massa's move on Senna was undoubtedly brave, but keeping control of the car was a little lucky - Massa isn't likely to pull that off again, Hulkenburg might be.

Why would you take Hulkenburg over Di Resta? I appreciate this will seem biased but Paul has outqualified and outscored Hulk this season and has been in the points more often. Surely the reason why Massa will be dropped is - if he is - because he only occasionally gets the car in the points whereas Paul will whenever the car is even close to good enough.

Does Hulk have rich backers or is he similar to everyone else and not in the Maldonado/Perez bracket of sponsorship?

No or very very little backing. That is why Williams dropped him (sorta).

The annoying thing for Ferrari is despite starting the season with an awful car, problems for their rivals coupled with Ferrari's development has meant that they are in the constructors championship fight. Had Massa pulled results similar to Silverstone/Spa/Monza more consistently, unbelievably Ferrari could well be leading the constructors championship!

So would McLaren if Button had done the same. I hate discussing what ifs.

Just think where McLaren would be now, if:

i. Grosjean hadn't caused the pile-up at Spa
ii. There were no mechanical failures for Button and Hamilton in Monza and Singapore respectively.
