Probably on a par with those experienced at Mclaren...Hmm maybe not as bad as Mclaren. But Mercedes do have the excuse their still building the team.

No, worse than McLaren. And with a slower car. There are no team building excuses for a huge manufacturer after nearly 3 seasons.

There are most definitely excuses when the rules/tyres/aero spec changes practically every season...No one's stable this year. McLaren started of with the fastest car and are no all but out of the title race...Ferrari which was a dog is almost about to win the WDC, the team which was dominant the past 2 seasons seems all but lost this season. Mercedes managed to win a race this season and almost a couple more, then lost their way. It happens, especially when you're a new fully fledged manufacturer and still finding your feet. Very few new teams have won any races in their first 3 years.

Mercedes bought out the reigning champs, which is the pretty much the best baseline to start from. So no realistic excuse there, maybe teething problems with the changeover but that would not still be present this amount of time later. If anything they have, generally speaking, fallen back since the start of 2010.

Not only that, but put Maldonado in the clear... as he was in Spain. He got the win, didn't he?

Now put Lewis in the midfield... like Spa. Now tell me about it. Who's more likely to be a hero?

They bought the reigning champs who won on technology long since banned. Mercedes in essence had to take a step backward in order to take steps forward. This means no baseline from BrawnGP.

I'm just saying...

There was no banned technology from 09-10 that i know of, nothing important anyway as things like the double diffuser were still legal then.

Is this gonna be like, all the Hamilton fans start making excuses for Mercedes already? :whip:

Guys... guys... all this animosity, bickering and discussing things that have yet to even begin let alone finalized.

As an F1 fan in general, I think this will bring a completely new dimension to next year's that I'm very much excited about and very much excited to see develop. You can't say you love the sport without being very curious about what Mercedes can do how McLaren will fare, and beyond that, what the 2014 regulations bring us.

Very exciting times indeed. :cloud9:

I remember Brawn talking about fighting out for the championship in frond of the field, before this season started, and even their only GP win was just lucky. How can anyone claim they will dominate in 2014? the other teams won't hang out and watch... See for ex. Lotus - Renault who destroyed them this season and imo they will do wonders in 2014

You say in one sentence the issues/truggles that Mercedes has had, and yet in the following sentence say Lotus will dominate in 2014? The sport changes year to year, and sometimes you show up to Australia with a good car other times you don't. So to say any team will be strong in 2014 is just a guess, nothing more. You've got no idea what business commitments Mercedes has made to the sport, and what philosophy they may now have since they've signed the guy who most consider the fastest driver in the sport. Let's just wait and see.

The same way some are already anticipating what/who the Lewis Hamilton fan boys and girls will be blaming his failure on next year or the year after that... what if Mercedes and Hamilton are able to procure a WDC in the next year or the year after that? It goes both ways... let's just wait and see and enjoy it all as it unfolds before us.

I said what I believe (in my opinion), Lotus will do, but I agree thatwe can not be sure for anything... But there is a long way till next season, I believe discussing and arguing about it, shows our excitement and anticipation
