According to pitpass, Bernie and FOPA are pushing for reversal of the new engine regulations due to come into force in 2014. If this does happen, what a momentus waste of time, money and energy developing these 1.6 V6T engines, many manufacturers are already well advanced with the engine development programme!

It felt as if I was reading an article on The Onion.

The sound? Because Bernie and Luca don't like the sound? Nicer digs? It's all all Jean Todt and Max Mosley's fault!?!? At least one engine manufacturer would leave, but that's okay. My dog needed to pee so that's why I'm here at nearly three am reading this crap.

One part of the article says....

There is plenty of precedent for the FIA proposing technology which is never introduced. In 2005 it announced that it had developed a radical rear wing which was split in the middle in order to improve overtaking. This was due to be introduced to F1 cars in 2008 but was put back a year and never saw the light of day.

Isnt that the DRS...? Or was it some other concept?

Sounds like they'd have a configuration that would give the cars 2 rear wings or 1 rear wings with a chunk removed behind the air box. DRS would surely be described as a moveable flap?

And they got rid of it because it was ugly and the fans would leave. A wing idea is a hell of a lot cheaper to develop than an engine. I wonder which engine manufacturer is bolting that Bernie would be okay with. My money would be on Renault.

Yeah, I gouged out my eyes in horror when I first saw those stepped noses.

Back to the engines, I can definitely see Renault being the manufacturer to drop out of the sport as they are the car maker that has put the most time and effort into development of the new V6T formula, and I don't believe that Mercedes are not far behind in the development race, don't be surprised if Mercedes also makes a bolt for the exit door, the only manufacturer to be vehemently opposed to the 1.6 V6T format is Ferrari because it doesn't suit their car production mantra. All this cost cutting bullpoo and suddenly a project that manufacturers have poured millions into is to be scraped 18 months before it it due to come into effect.

Which was VW's preferred format? If I remember correctly it was the current engine format that they liked. So Ferrari, VW and Cosworth then.

I thought VW wanted V6 if not even V4?
