I'm sober and I dont :)

I'd rather someone slapped me in the face and then apologised, rather than stab me in the back, and pretend with a smile he didnt do it.

JB and MW would urinate on your back and assure you that it was raining

So people are complaining that Jenson is winning the mind games. As this is the Jenson Button supporter thread what is wrong with it. Is it because people are too blinded by his weak minded team mate.

The sport is about driving fast not achieving grand master status in chess. It's not always important, did you see how many gold medals Ryan Lochte won in the Olympics? Have you ever seen him interviewed? :hehe:

We saw last year what Lewis is like when his head is not in the game. What is he going to be like if he thinks the team are not behind him of do not want him?

I think its a little more than mindgames, its verging on deceitful. To someone who welcomed and helped him join the team. If jenson wants to play it like that there's nothing that says he can't, but I dont have to like him for it.

Stuff like this is what drive me crazy about Button... whether it's manipulation, or head games or simply putting his foot in his mouth, the thing I'd respond to him is perhaps thats how he feels about his chances, but clearly the guy sitting in the car with the yellow T-Bar I'm sure feels he's still able to win this WDC given that he's able to make the car go considerably faster than his team mate.

GPUpdate: Jenson Button has pinpointed Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel as the title contenders for 2012, despite McLaren having again had the fastest car in Singapore. After Lewis Hamilton retired from the lead, he plummeted from second to fourth in the championship and now trails the leading Spaniard by 52 points.

Button’s own race ended in second position behind Vettel, just as it had last year, but the 2009 World Champion is 75 points off the lead with a maximum 150 left on offer.

“It's hard for anyone (to catch Alonso) except Seb at the moment,” Button is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. “It's between those two but there's still a lot of people with a long shot. That's what we're all going to go for.

“It just shows that one bad race makes a massive difference; Fernando had his at Spa, Lewis had his at Spa and here, Seb had his at the last race. I had mine in the last race. When no-one has the consistency, you can't close a big gap on someone. But Seb is now only 29 points behind - that's a gap that's shrinking.”

The last time both McLarens finished one race was at the Hungarian Grand Prix on 29 July, when Hamilton took victory and Button crossed the line in sixth position.

Button is not the only person in the world that thinks it's now down to Vettel and Alonso, with six races remaining, baring mechanical failures and crashes, it'll be tough to overhaul Alonso given that Red Bull seems to have regained some form and Alonso has always been there or thereabouts, the wildcard here is McLaren's reliability issues and general :censored: ups!

Without which Lewis would be leading easily....wonder why Jenson didnt mention that? :scratchchin:

I wouldn't necessarily say that Lewis would be leading the title challenge, but he wouldn't certainly be in the battle for the title much more than he currently is!

Part of winning is believing you can win. Each person has different thresholds for that belief, and based on comments like that it's obvious that Jenson's threshold is lower than Lewis'.

Or look at it another way, managing your expectations is easier for some people, I tend to be realistic about my expectations and tend to be pleasantly surprised when I do better that expected!

Maybe it explains the different in driving styles, maybe it explains why you support one driver and I support another. One is a pessimist one is an optimist? One is a fighter one is a survivor?

In any case, the point is Button believes it's all over for him. Maybe he's taking into consideration his abilities and weighing them against what he feels he can do and in this case it's little.

I'm saying that Lewis probably doesn't feel the same. So perhaps Button is saying he's willing to help Lewis in his WDC bid? :yikes:

McLaren clearly has the best car on the grid. That still counts for something right?
