McLaren had some fine pace here last year. I'm hoping this is repeated. And for goodness sake, 2 cars reaching the finish line would be AMAZING!

Yeah i thought i had missed something there. Just as well, nice to see things are still (appropriately in this case) passed off as racing incidents once in a while.

As noted in the stewards report, Senna was taking his normal racing line. Easy!

First and biggest pity is that people are talking about the wrong thing here - this was a truly awesome overtake by Felipe and that's what should be talked about IMO.

When I watched this I immediately thought of the Schumi/Rubens/Hungary/2010 incident. One move by Schumi, supposedly tougher rules now, no contact by Schumi.

One of the greatest ever races was here in 2005. 8-)

Oh yeah...who can forget Suzuka 2005. Hoping for similar pace here from Lewis, but from the front! Brand new gearbox, pure drivers track, no excuses!!

Are gear boxes also limited in number like engines?

Only that one has to last 5 races, as far as im aware there are no limits on the total amount of gearboxes as each new one out of sync carries a grid penalty.

Okay so there's an implied limit simply because of the number of races.

There is a difference though of how grid penalties are issued and I though that if there was an in race failure, you didn't get hit for a penalty. Completely different than having made the entire race distance and then having to change the gear box before the next race.

In other words, McLaren won't be hit with a five grid penalty for Lewis for changing the gear box because it failed DURING the race.

No, completely different, Schumacher moved off the racing line and checked his mirrors several times, he knew where Rubens and the wall was, and had made a premeditated move

Senna followed the racing line thinking it wasn't a passing place, and Massa dived so quickly there was no time to react. If anything Massa had caused an avoidable accident, but managed to control the car and both drivers finished the race.

Think you'll find that i exclaimed about how cool i thought the pass was in the race thread, so reel yourself in on that one.

I am not sure if it was talent or luck that got him passed in one piece
