Today I turned on my ultrabook to complete small assignment and the DREADED BLUE SCREEN showed itself with the dreaded sentence "Beginning physical dump of memory"... I was like F**K and pressed enter to start normally....and it started as usual. Just to make sure I restarted the PC and then defragmented the drive, no issues through the process.

Man, I hate the blue screen. The last time I saw it was on a desktop PC back at high school. And it really screwed my morning to see this on my relatively new ultra book. Could it occur again? :(

In my experience yes, I would say:
4/10 it is the hard drive starting to fail.
2/10 a file has been corrupted on write
4/10 all will be good as long as it does not happen within the next 5 to 6 start ups.

You should look at the memory dump, at least note the area of memory that was affected and then cross reference that against the driver (more than likely) or application that resided on that memory space. Often it could be something as simple as a new update.

I'd not had a blue screen on my Windows 7 machine since I first put my computer together. A week or two ago I had three in one day, I noted what was going on and figured out that last update to Firefox, fiddled around with the video hardware acceleration capability and I saw that the dump involved the memory space in use by the video card. So a little sleuthing led to a required update for Flash associated with the new version of Firefox and voilà.

Blue screens are there for a reason.

Oh...okay I've been updating this machine with all kinds of stuff the past few days. I always associated blue screens with the computer saying "I'm going to die now my friend" because that's exactly what happened the past 2-3 times I got them during my teens/childhood.

Have restarted the PC at least 10 times today, things have been okay. Hope this was a one off...cheers for your inputs! :)

I've been tired all day. I'm now going to bed, because I still have to get up early tomorrow. Weep for me.
