Haha everyone manufactures s*** in china, taking a dig at apple for that?? Really?

Yes, that's true, from a business point of view it makes sense to maximise profits... but when I hear people claim AMERICAN COMPANY, like they support the entire country's financial infrastructure when the vast majority of their operation is in Asia, it annoys me! Their design and marketing departments are tiny in comparison to their manufacturing workforce in China.

Well, compared to Samsung, Apple is an American company And that's what American consumers see - an American company and icon being infringed on by some Korean company.

Really? Apple winning their patent case against Samsung has set a bad precedent for the future, when will it stop?

Apple, fresh from a patent victory against South Korean rival Samsung, has turned its sights on a smaller target - Polish online grocery website A.pl.

The Polish patent office said on Tuesday the U.S. maker of the iPad, iPhone and iPod had filed a complaint, accusing the website of copying one of Apple's icons to its logo and riding its coattails to win customers.

"Apple brand is widely recognised and the company says that A.pl, by using the name that sounds similar, is using Apple's reputation," patent office spokesman Adam Taukert said.

A.pl chief executive Radoslaw Celinski said: "The accusation is ludicrous". The firm, which is not currently using the logo in question, is looking at Apple's complaint.

A date for an official hearing has not been set yet.

The law firm Baker & McKenzie, which represents Apple in Poland, was not available to comment.

Apple was expected to launch a new iPhone on Wednesday.

This is a totally different scenario, and one that happens to everyone. Apple didn't even sue them (like Ford did to ferrari last year for the "F150" trademark). They filed a complaint - the minimum you legally *have* to do to keep your brand strong for future legitimate cases, even if you don't expect to "win".

The trademark office will probably rule that they aren't confusingly similar. The most the polish company will have to do is write up a page explaining why they don't think it is, and then apple will be able to claim that they defended their trademark. That's how this stuff is supposed to work.

Hard to argue with results. Maybe it's short lived, maybe not, but Apple has been around a long time and has managed to re-invent itself more times than Madonna.

Apple shares hit a new record high of almost $700, after the firm revealed it had received two million pre-orders in 24 hours for its iPhone 5.

Expectations stateside are that its introduction may be actually felt as a positive impact to various economic indexes.

Saw similar reporting in the news today:
Apple over $700 a share
Which means their market cap or valuation is now over $650B (that's billions with a 'B'). This is more than Exxon and Microsoft (the numbers 2 and 3 in the world) combined!
And for comparison: Switzerland's GDP (which is the 19th largest in the world and close to me ) is $636B. So, Apple is worth more than the GDP of Switzerland and all the other countries with smaller GDPs. Turkey as the number 18 in the world has a GDP of $778B.
