I think the deal is already done, just a lot of flak and deception, keeping every other team waiting to see what where he goes before signing a driver.

If Lewis moves, if he has not told Mclaren then Mclaren need to fill his seat, One of the Force India guys I think will get it. That means FI need to fill a seat, who do they take?

even more who would Lewis replace? Schumacher or Massa, where are they going to go? I can see Schumacher retiring, but Massa will then be looking for a seat? Maybe ferrari would pay for a seat at Sauber or STR for him? If I can not see Perez moving on, so KK will be looking for a seat? All this is up in the air until Lewis says he has signed for someone. Think how much it is distracting the whole grid!

I see Schumacher retiring to a management position, and Lewis replacing him, teaming up with Nico.

I want your prescription glasses or some of what you've been smoking...

I think Lewis's management is playing a bigger role here than most might think. They will be driven by $ mostly and for sure (Ron Dennis made this clear) McLaren are offering a pay cut to Lewis, plus McLaren have bigger restrictions on personal/image promotion possibilities. Merc on the other hand will be offering more money and even bigger bonuses. Plus clear #1 status.

I don't think Schumi wants a non-driving role. He wasn't motivated to comeback for one podium in 3 years. He wants some success. When LCdM said they didn't want Perez because they need experience it was an indication that Schumi was on SF's radar. I've said that before, and, it is still a very big outside chance, but, if Lewis does go to Merc, I'm pretty sure SF will have a shot at getting Schumi on a one year contract, with the thought that Vettel can jump into that seat in 2014. Of course, if Red Bull keep slipping backward for the rest of this year, we might see Seb in red earlier.

Schumacher is off to Ferrari for a season.

"Michael, Alonso is faster than you."

You're saying this like its official....makes me happy even though I know it's bull. :whip:

I don't see Schumi going to Ferrari just for one year. Especially if he has to play second fiddle to Alonso. The flip side I don't think Alonso would like having Schumi back at Ferrari knowing the relationship he has with many of the people there.

There are many people, including drivers, who don't see coming into a team as a #2 in itself as being a bad thing. Most young players joining any team start as junior members. The only problem would be if the #2 has no chance of becoming/earning the #1 position. Since the beginning of F1, Ferrari has defined a #1 driver, but, they have also allowed (in reality encouraged) the #2 to fight for #1 status.

As has already been pointed out, even Schumi had to play the role of a Ferrari #2 driver.

Although I don't think there's a big chance of Schumi coming back to Ferrari, the fact is that both he and Alonso would believe they are good enough to earn the #1 spot. And, as both drive for Ferrari, they would also both realize that, if the other guy had established himself as #1 they would have to be #2 until their performances earned them the #1 spot in the team.

Team first, driver second :cloud9:

Interesting little commentary by Mark Sutton of Sutton Images. I was digging through the ESPN site and caught his comments on his favorite shots from Monza. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

I don't know what's happened with Lewis but since the summer break he's been different. I spoke about shooting him on the Hungary podium and him looking up to us and being a bit emotional etc, but now something's changed. There are lots of reasons rumoured as to the reasons for his state of mind but it all seems to be building up on him. When he got pole he came in to parc ferme and didn't celebrate. After the race was similar, and even Jenson was still happy despite having a DNF which virtually ended his title hopes. McLaren only does team celebration photos when it wins, so we were all in position for it nice and early. We did the first 'one-two-three' to get a cheer from the team and Lewis did nothing. I think Whitmarsh said something to him then about getting a smile and the second time he gave us a fist pump, and then the third time - in this shot - Lewis pointed at everyone. It was a bit like a message to the media, I'm not sure what he meant by it but it felt like a message to the press to me.

Howdy old chaps!! :wavey:

I do not think Hammy will be going to Merc in 2013 but then again this does not mean that a team change for him is not in the cards. The silly season has started a tad early this season and as we all know what is thought to be the impossible IS possible in F1. Things are getting very interesting indeed.

Hope all my mates here are well and I wanted to say hello.

Regards,
Gregg :)
