Hi guys. I'm running in the Kilmacolm half marathon for the third consecutive year on Sunday and this year I've decided to run it for a charity (at the last minute, only decided last night that this will be the first of a few races I'm going to run for it.). It's for the Rett Syndrome Research Trust UK. For any of you that would like an insight into why I've chosen to run for them you can see the story of former professional footballer Mark Reilly whose 4 year old daughter has Retts: http://www.blackandwhitearmy.com/off-the-park-news-archive/1836-mark-qmavisq-reilly.
Essentially, I felt that so many of us take for granted that we can run - can you imagine how it must feel to be a little girl and not be able to walk, let alone run. Yet this little girl is so happy even though she can't walk, has to use a wheelchair and can't speak. So I want to run to raise awareness (And hopefully a little money) for those that can't. I've been in the position of not being able to run temporarily in the past through broken bones and other injuries, but to never be able to run or walk again? I couldn't imagine that. Hopefully in the process my little contribution will help toward research for a cure in an area where there have already been major break through's in recent years.
If any of you would like to make a contribution, no matter how small, I have set up a just giving page as of last night which I'll be keeping open for the various races I'll be running for the charity. Here's the page: https://www.justgiving.com/Allan-Moore-80.
Absolutely no pressure to anyone, just if we've chatted on the forum and you happen to feel like contributing it would be very welcome.
