Every team mate Lewis has had has been insecure. It's because they hate the fact that he's faster then them.

I don't think that Button is insecure; Lewis is a faster driver in pure speed terms, I have acknowledged that Lewis is the faster driver on the track; but Lewis is more prone to mistakes, over the course of the season, the difference is points is minimal; different drivers have difference strengths and weaknesses, doesn't mean that one is inferior to another!

No way in this lifetime is Hamilton faster than Alonso if they are in equal machinery on equal terms.

I'd say in pure speed terms, Alonso and Hamilton are about equal; but I would say that Alonso is the more complete driver

If both are on their game, I'll take prone to a few mistakes over no grip any day. The difference is, Lewis can make up for mistakes.

I'm just saying...

I like you MOA because you are not blind to your drivers. I think I fall in the same realm as you on the Lewis front. But the comparison between Lewis and Hamilton being a wash in the end because of Button's strengths and Hamilton's weaknesses don't really add up, especially given this year's performance. With the exception of Maldonado's incident for fourth place where he crashed with Lewis, there has been not one mistake that Lewis can be blamed for as a bone head move. There were plenty last year, and in the end no one was going to touch the Red Bull empire and the whiz kid. But this year, it's not only Alonso driving his best, I think more than anyone else on the contending teams, Lewis has had a banner year, by any measure. Where I'm sure Button would rather us all forget the six or so scoreless GPs some of which his team mate was getting podiums. That pile of "rubbish" is impossible to sweep under the rug. (I said rubbish, may be hanging out here too much) :hehe:

Fair comment; I was generalising Lewis Vs Jenson, this year, Jenson has been poor after the first few races upto the half time point, but seems to have found his groove again and has scored 51 points from the last four races, 18 also went begging at the Italian GP (my opinion of course, other's may have different views  ), JB seems to be stronger in the second half of the season!

When you say "JB seems to be stronger in the second half of the season!", are you comparing him to his own performance in the first half of the season or are you saying he is stronger than Lewis in the second half? IMO, it has to be the former. Just imagine if you will, Lewis had more time and put more confidence in the new rear wing at Spa. Considering how Button won the race, Lewis would have, as he always does, outqualified Button on pole and cruised to victory with Button in a distant but comfortable 2nd. But, that's just "if" talking and that gets us nowhere...but we all know it's real. I think we're going to see a more intense Lewis in the coming 7 races as he is the only one standing in the way of Alonso and the WDC trophy...and he wants it.He's the only real threat to Alonso and he wants that WDC trophy.

I'm just saying...

I'm comparing it to Jenson's first half of this season, it would be silly to compare to any other driver. Who knows where Lewis would have finished if he had the same wing, maybe he would have beaten Jenson, maybe he wouldn't; it's all redundant speculation... we'll never know what would have happened, previous events mean nothing, this season proves that!

Should we merge this threat with the That's Lewis one?

Err...if I may kindly reject it, that thread was supposed to only discuss Lewis' victories, however I think a lot of other stuff was moved into it (anything to do with Lewis)....this thread serves as a standalone on the basis on speculation of Lewis moving to another team. It's a great thread by itself. Really.

In the interests of keeping the place tidy, go for it. Sooner or later we'll end up with 2 threads which are essentially the same so it's maybe not a bad idea to do this before the 2 threads contain the same stuff.

What were the chances be that this thread would have turned into a referendum on Lewis?

No idea...but it's an interesting topic by itself. Lewis, the driver who was brought up by Mclaren and brought them a WDC after a decade of waiting...WILL he stay or go!? Riveting.

This thread doesn't need to be merged, beside, if it was merged it'd mess up the flow of the other thread in my opinion....

You mean the riveting discussion going on there about Lewis and his teammate?? :P

Anyway MOA, thanks for backing me up here. You're awesome. The only thing I dislike about you is your taste of drivers. :D

I mean from a context of jumping from one thread of conversation to another without quotations to understand who is replying to who...

Nobodies perfect! :hehe:

What I'd love to see, is Schumacher's reaction if Hamilton posted telementary data on twitter and complained about the team's advice for the rear wing after being out qualified when they are team mates. Assuming he knows what twitter is, I think he won't say he's disappointed in Lewis.
