Can anyone advise why the team members are set up at the pit wall? They cannot see any of the track and only see the cars when they pit. They don't have very comfortable seats and little protection if it rains. Would'nt it be better inside the garage?

I think it is an historical thing. Harping back to the days of manual timing and lap charts. I suppose it also separates the chiefs from the Indians from getting interrupted by things outside the race.

Why wouldn't they be set up at the pit wall? That's where the cars come in to get serviced. There's no reason to be anywhere else. The garage is already crowded with mechanics and equipment. Unless I'm misunderstanding the question :confused::confused:

Keeping an eye on what the other teams are doing in the pitlane.

It's a bit like the back of the bus syndrome. They are the cool kids, the cool kids sit on the pit wall......
