And I am excited and wait in anticipation for Monza, thinking that D'Ambrosio could get a turn.

Right D'Ambrosio, this is your BIG MOMENT. Ironically, he's replacing the guy who happened to be another wild-child's replacement mid-season... Nelson Piquet in 2009.

Wild child, not really. Puppet in Team Alonso with Briatore pulling the strings, yes.

I don't get why folk have a downer on Piquet Jnr. His performance in the German GP a few years back where he nearly won it when he had the team behind him (for once) told me all I need to know about his abilities as a driver. Being told to crash or find a new job by the biggest bully in F1 is a bit of a no brainer for a kid desperate to stay in F1.

Aye, but his "near win" at Hockenheim was a flash-in-the-pan. He was just never happy at Renault. The pressure of being under Briatore's iron fist clearly got to him, very visibly so.

I would say he was never supported in the same way that the guy in the other car (I won't say team mate) was. Granted a team will put more resources behind the driver more likely to win a championship but I always got the impression that it was like one driver having the whole of NASA to help him and the other having a copy of F1 for Dummies and a socket set and being told to get cracking.

I often feel Briatore would've been happy with a one-driver team if that driver was Alonso. It seemed like he was making a point of telling the press he was considering replacing the rookie he had just hired after their first race in Melbourne. He did that to Kovalainen and I think to Piquet too. Piquet wasn't the greatest driver, but everyone would make a poor show in Team Alonso's second car with Briatore calling the shots. Sadly Briatore was often also the "manager" of the team mates of Alonso.

I agree with this. He will be only the second person to graduate from the "3 new teams" to a midfield team. Hopefully he has more potential than Senna. Senna had an epic qualifying session on his big return at Spa last year, without much testing. Hopefully we can see something similar from D'Ambrosio. Hopefully he will be like the young Japanese driver, who at the end of 2009 surprised us all! That same Japanese driver who deserves a podium already - but has the misfortune of events like last weekend in Belgium. :irked:

I will be supporting D'Ambrosio all the way!

Well at least Monza isn't too difficult to learn.

You're right, but he'll be lucky to make it past the first chicane unscathed... oh wait, Grosjean's banned for a race so we might be safe!

It would be darkly funny it Ambrosio caused a crash.

With Maldo's 'slipping clutch' issue, he might be right up there when the lights go out and wreak havoc despite his grid penalties :P

I still don't know why isn't anyone hiring Alguersuari... He DESERVES to drive. He could get to Force India or Sauber, if some of those drivers move up to stronger teams.

He'll be next year, but it's still a secret where (he only said it won't be a team at the back of the grid)
