"The stewards regard this incident as an extremely serious breach of the regulations which had the potential to cause injury to others,” a statement said. “It eliminated leading championship contenders from the race."

I'm sure you've talked about this for at least ten pages already, but I have to throw in my opinion. This ban is bullpoo. Yes, it was his fault. Yes, give him a penalty. But a BAN? ridiculous. What did he do that was any worse than any other mistake other drivers have made this season or even last season? I also don't see why taking out championship contenders should exacerbate the penalty; everyone agrees that incidents are part of racing - especially going into the first corner.

I am very late to this party again, but I have a many views...

I am bitterly disappointed as I really wanted to see Kamui on the podium. :(

I am disappointed with Grosjean; I really like him and this is hopefully a good learning curb.

I am sad that Schumachers' race was affected by a gearbox issue.

I am annoyed with Maldonado... really wanted to see him have a good result but he really is a thug.

I am, however, absolutely elated with Vettel's strong race. Driver of the day in my opinion. Excellent overtaking, good strategy, and a real legendary Alonso-esque world champion drive: calmly collecting positions one-by-one until, whoah-and-behold he's in a podium position.

I am relieved for Button - and stoked to see him on the top step. I would love to see him contend for the championship with Alonso and Vettel moreso than the other drivers.

I celebrate my team Toro Rosso's best result so far this year. Fix that damn car you lugs! :irked:

I am content that Vergne qualified and finished above Ricciardo - hopefully he is improving.

I am satisfied with the final podium overall, 3 well-deserving drivers who drove a fantastic race.

I applaud the stewards many decisions over this weekend. All were correct in my book.

And I am excited and wait in anticipation for Monza, thinking that D'Ambrosio could get a turn.

It was an amazing race, presenting a rollercoaster of emotions. Not as exciting as Valencia, but equally as disappointing for the tragedies for Red Bull and Sauber respectively. But only NOW am I really enjoying this season.

I still don't know why isn't anyone hiring Alguersuari... He DESERVES to drive. He could get to Force India or Sauber, if some of those drivers move up to stronger teams.

Even if Schumacher didn't have the gearbox issue I think he would have stayed 7th as he was too far behind Hulk, Massa and Webber. Mercedes tried a 1 stop to get him on the podium and sadly it didnt work, had they gone for a 2 stop I think he could have been in the battle for 4th, but the car isnt quick enough to fight Button, Vettel or Kimi on similar strategies.

Well, Toro Rosso didn't renew his contract because he's had time to prove himself and didn't impress enough to find a better spot. It's how Toro Rosso works. I think Alguersuari was alright as a driver, but not exceptional, and that's kinda what you're starting to have to be unless you bring a wad of money for Williams or the backmarkers.
