He took the old wing because it felt better andhe was advised by the team that the difference was minimal and the old one would be faster in quali.
Fart useless piece of advise that was!

You can not blame the team for that; Lewis made the ultimate decision; how many times has Jenson gone against the team, with varying levels of success, the driver has to take responsibility!

This! From the Twitter messages that we doing the rounds yestrerday, Hamilton chose to stick with the old wing and Button chose the new one. Can't blame the team for that. However, qualy isn't the race. Chances are that over a race distance the difference is minimal.

Lewis Hamilton's tweeting madness continues. He has now just removed the tweet in which he had included a telemetry sheet of an overlay of his and Button's qualifying laps, after Alexander Wurz tweeted to him:

@alex_wurz @lewishamilton, could you also tweet the race strategy and set up sheet. Thanks mate.

LOL he's quite desperate to show how mad that rear wing on Buttons car is!!

I'm glad he's pissed...he should be, maybe next time if he's behind in Q1 and Q2, put on the exact same setup as NoGrip and just drive faster!! :director:

He chose on the teams advice. After being told that the difference was minimal and the old one would be faster in quali. They were way out on the quali part!! What makes you think they're right over a race distance??

Anyway, did anyone actually get a look at the data before the tweet was pulled?

Yep, Andrew Benson did the honours by retweeting Lewis, as follows:

RT @LewisHamilton: In engineering, just been shown this overlay of mine & jensons qualifying lap on a speed trace. The doted line is the time line. Downwards means I lose time to Jenson, up means I gain time.

I only saw the Tweet about them having a vote on which way to go. The race is 44 laps long, not 1 lap and the pace won't be quite as hot during the race as opposed to a single lap so I would expect the difference to be minimal. Part of the gap will of course be down to Button being more comfortable with this set-up and having some grip.

He chose, that's the whole point, the team makes recommendations, Lewis has ultimate control... if the team forced the old spec wing on him, you'd have a valid point, but that's not the case!

Andrew Benson on McLaren and Lewis' tweets about the telemetry:

McLaren not at all happy about Hamilton tweeting telemetry picture - contained all sorts of sensitive info, which the other teams now have.

Thoughts?

Yes he chose. After being told the difference was marginal. His tweeted telemetry shows that the new wing is worth over a second a lap. Do you mean to tell me the team didnt know that?? With all their high tech simulators that they rate so highly they didnt know it was worth a second a lap???? What do they do then? I've got a copy of that telemetry on my computer but dont know how to get it onto here. If any one knows how I'll print it because I think its now been pulled from the instagram site.
